Taiwan Showcases Its Asia-Pacific Leadership in Circular Economy at APCER & Hotspot 2025
Taiwan recently successfully hosted the Asia-Pacific Circular Economy Roundtable and Hotspot 2025 (APCER & Hotspot 2025) in Taipei, attracting more than 500 participants from 50 countries. The event, organized by the Taiwanese Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Circular Taiwan Network, served as an important platform for policymakers, business leaders, and academics to gather and enhance circular cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region.
This four-day event highlighted Taiwan's significant progress in circular economy initiatives in recent years. In 2024, the green technology sector in Taiwan generated over NT$500 billion in added value (approximately US$15 billion), accounting for 2% of the country's GDP. Among the seven sectors within green technology, the circular economy emerged as the leader regarding added value and employment, boasting an annual growth rate close to 10%. This underlines its pivotal role in driving Taiwan's industrial transformation.
