Accelerating Actions Towards SDGs in Kansai Post-Expo 2025 Symposium

Accelerating Actions Towards SDGs in Kansai

As we approach 2030, a pivotal year for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Kansai SDGs Platform (KSP) is set to host an important symposium on December 3, 2025. The event will take place at the Umeda South Hall in Osaka, under the theme "KSP's Initiatives Toward SDG Targets Post-Expo: Connecting and Moving Forward."

The KSP, established in 2017, is the largest SDGs promotion platform in Western Japan, comprising approximately 3,500 diverse organizations from various sectors including academia, government, NGOs, and businesses. 2025 marks a significant milestone not only with the Osaka-Kansai Expo but also with only five years left to achieve the SDGs by 2030.

The symposium will facilitate discussions among a diverse group of stakeholders, focusing on:
  • - Reviewing and sharing the outcomes of past activities and the current progress toward achieving SDGs in the Kansai region.
  • - Establishing a direction for sustainable development in Kansai following the upcoming Expo.
  • - Outlining specific collaborative actions towards the 2030 SDG agenda.

Moreover, it will explore how various organizations within KSP can leverage their unique strengths and address weaknesses to foster collaboration, driving sustainable actions across the region.

KSP is committed to enhancing its focus on "connecting power" to ensure that the heightened social interest stemming from the Expo translates into meaningful actions promoting SDGs in Kansai.
