Harris Teeter Launches Harvest Feast Campaign to Aid Families in Need

Harris Teeter Kicks Off its Heartfelt Harvest Feast Campaign

Harris Teeter is excited to announce the launch of its annual Harvest Feast campaign this November. This initiative aims to support families facing food insecurity throughout the Southeast by providing them with essential holiday meals. With the help of dedicated associates, familiarly known as “VolunTeeters,” the grocery chain will organize various packing events across multiple states, ensuring thousands of families enjoy nourishing meals during the holiday season.

Making a Difference in the Community

This year, Harris Teeter plans to donate an incredible 9,500 meal kits, which will together support around 38,000 individuals in need. The meal kits typically include beloved holiday staples such as turkey breast, stuffing, yams, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, rolls, and even cake mix, all packed thoughtfully into a reusable Harris Teeter shopping bag. This initiative is not just about food; it embodies the company's commitment to fostering community well-being and compassion.

Danna Robinson, the Director of Corporate Affairs and Customer Relations for Harris Teeter, emphasized how crucial the associates are in this mission, saying, “Our associates are the heart of Harris Teeter, and their commitment to serving our communities extends far beyond the store aisles. These packing events embody our belief that we're truly 'in food with love.'”

A Schedule of Impactful Events

Throughout November, several food packing events will be hosted at various food banks. Here’s the schedule:
  • - Nov. 6: Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (Charlotte, N.C.)
  • - Nov. 10: Central and Eastern NC Food Bank (Raleigh, N.C.)
  • - Nov. 12: MANNA Food Bank (Asheville, N.C.)
  • - Nov. 17: Lowcountry Food Bank (Charleston, S.C.)
  • - Nov. 19: Capital Area Food Bank (Washington, D.C.)

As a reminder, these events are focused on packing the meals, and the actual distribution will occur at a later date through the food banks’ network of partners. Community members are encouraged to reach out to their local food banks for further assistance and inquiries about meals.

Partnering for Greater Impact

In collaboration with prominent brands like Cargill, Bruce's Yams, McCormick, and several others, Harris Teeter is dedicated to making sure that families in need can come together for a hearty holiday meal. The commitment does not end after Thanksgiving; Harris Teeter is also hosting a Harvest Feast Round Up campaign at its checkout counters until December 30. Shoppers can round up their transaction totals, with every cent collected going directly to local hunger relief partners.

Reflecting on previous years, the success of the Harvest Feast Round Up campaign is notable; in 2024 alone, shoppers and associates contributed over $830,000, bringing the cumulative total since 2005 to nearly $14 million. These funds are vital in helping to sustain local food banks and ensure all donations stay within the communities served.

A Legacy of Care

For over 60 years, Harris Teeter, which operates as a subsidiary of The Kroger Co., has continuously worked towards enriching lives through its initiatives. With headquarters based in Matthews, North Carolina, Harris Teeter consists of more than 250 stores and employs 36,000 associates across several states. The company remains devoted to its mission of community service, exemplified by programs like the Food Rescue program, which donated over 5.9 million meals in 2024 alone.

The Harvest Feast campaign not only highlights the importance of community involvement during the holidays but also encourages everyone to partake in the discussions and actions around hunger relief. Together, we can foster a compassionate community where every family has the opportunity to celebrate holiday traditions together.
