A Significant Achievement for Okayama University at PSI Event
On February 21, 2026, the second edition of the PSI Student Idea Pitch took place at Tokushima University, hosted by the Peace & Science Innovation Ecosystem (PSI). This event saw nine universities from the Chugoku and Shikoku regions come together, with enthusiastic presentations from student representatives showcasing innovative business ideas.
The PSI Student Idea Pitch aims to foster entrepreneurship among university students and identify potential applicants for the GAP fund. The inaugural event was hosted by Okayama University, while the second edition featured student representatives from Hiroshima University, Kagawa University, Ehime University, Shunan Public University, Okayama University of Science, Hiroshima Shudo University, Prefectural Hiroshima University, as well as Tokushima University.
Among the participants, Fukuya Kamada, a second-year master's student from Okayama University's Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science, presented his innovative idea titled, “Connecting Chugoku and Shikoku Technologies to the World: A Vision of Quantum Glass.” His proposal focused on utilizing a microwave antenna-integrated glass chip that allows for the introduction of quantum sensing technology into existing bio-experimental processes with minimal disruption. This concept is presented as a subscription service, aiming to enhance drug discovery and biotechnology fields while bridging local manufacturing techniques with cutting-edge research.
Kamada’s presentation garnered significant attention and led to him receiving the “AIAC Prize” awarded by the Industry-Academia Collaboration Capital (AIAC). The event also included a feedback session from sponsor companies and organizations, further validating the innovative spirit displayed at the pitch.
Following the presentations, a networking session facilitated lively discussions among the students, faculty, and representatives from various enterprises and support organizations. This gathering not only fostered connections beyond university boundaries but also served as a valuable platform for establishing networks that could assist future commercialization and entrepreneurship initiatives.
Okayama University is committed to supporting entrepreneurial ventures through its Startup and Venture Creation Headquarters, which provides advice and connects students and faculty with support organizations and experts.
