GAC Launches the AION UT in Denmark and Norway Amid Austria Test Drives

GAC Expands Presence in Europe with AION UT Launch

Recently, GAC unveiled its brand and the AION UT model in Denmark and Norway, marking a significant step in its European expansion strategy. This dual launch took place on September 17, 2026, in Copenhagen, where journalists from the two countries gathered to witness the vehicle introduction and participate in brief test drives. The AION UT made its concurrent debut at a separate event in Austria, allowing an even broader audience to experience GAC's newest electric vehicle.

Innovative Electric Vehicle Design

The AION UT is a compact electric hatchback designed by GAC's Milan team. It measures 4,270 mm in length, has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, and offers a spacious trunk with a capacity of 440 liters, expandable to 1,600 liters when the rear seats are folded down. The European variant boasts an impressive WLTP range of up to 430 km, and its chassis is specifically tuned for European driving conditions.

Equipped with a heat pump and a 14.6-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the AION UT has received high praise for its user-friendly features. This model earned a 5-star rating in the 2026 Euro NCAP assessment, highlighting its advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assistance.

Engaging the Public and Media

The launch events were designed to engage not only the automotive press but also fleet clients, potential dealers, and consumers. GAC's strategy focuses on creating a direct relationship with European customers by establishing local partnerships for sales and service. The events in Denmark and Norway, along with the public test drives in Austria, allowed media representatives and customers alike to experience the AION UT first-hand.

In Denmark and Norway, Electric Way, an import company under the Sulland Group, will manage GAC's vehicle distribution, with further announcements regarding local pricing and dealership networks expected soon.

Commitment to Europan Market

GAC's expansion into Europe involves not just vehicle launches but also establishing a robust operational framework. This includes design activities in Milan, vehicle assembly in Austria, coordination from Amsterdam, and parts logistics managed out of Rotterdam. By combining these strengths and ensuring effective collaboration with local distributors and service partners, GAC is strategically positioning itself to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles in Europe.

The AION UT represents GAC's commitment to sustainable mobility and innovative automotive solutions tailored for the European market. For more information about GAC and its offerings, visit GAC Group.
