The 93rd China Medical Equipment Fair Set to Open in Shanghai

The 93rd China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) is set to take place from April 9 to 12 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai. As the largest event in the global medical device supply chain, this year's CMEF carries the theme "Fusion of Innovation, Boundless Evolution." The fair will focus on cutting-edge technologies and international business cooperation.

With a total exhibition area exceeding 320,000 square meters, CMEF is expected to host around 5,000 brands and enterprises from over 20 countries and regions, attracting more than 200,000 professional visitors and buyers from 150 nations.

This year, the CMEF shines a spotlight on the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI), introducing a range of products that embody the concept of "AI + Healthcare." For instance, a new AI agent that can perform multiple diagnoses with a single scan will make its global debut, enabling simultaneous detection of various conditions in different parts of the body. Additionally, a specialized AI diagnostic software package is already in use in clinical practice, while an integrated AI training and inference platform will enhance the computational capabilities of healthcare institutions.

In addition to AI advancements, the fair will showcase innovations in medical robotics, presenting new products for surgery, rehabilitation, and elderly care, thereby propelling the sector toward greater intelligence and precision. For the first time, CMEF will introduce a dedicated space for future technologies, focusing on three key areas: brain-computer interfaces (BCI), embedded intelligence, and university innovation achievements. This exhibition area will feature avant-garde products, such as AI-assisted MRI diagnostic systems for Alzheimer’s disease, brain-computer interface systems for assessing and training individuals with cognitive decline, and exoskeleton robots.

CMEF also acts as a premier marketplace for business globalization and industrial collaboration. The International Zone will welcome exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions, showcasing the latest global innovations from Germany, the USA, South Korea, Japan, the UK, France, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The revamped international activities series, called "We," includes the "WeTalk Stage," where representatives from foreign consulates, leading industry associations, and multinational corporations will speak. Furthermore, the "WeMatch Hub" is designed to facilitate specific business partner searches based on verified buyer demands, while the "International WeTour" offers customized tours to help international visitors explore exhibitors’ proposals. During the fair, CMEF will partner with international departments of various renowned hospitals to provide personalized medical services, ensuring comprehensive healthcare for international attendees.

Additionally, hundreds of forums will take place throughout the event, gathering global experts and industry leaders to discuss the evolving healthcare landscape. Notably, the Global Harmonization Working Party (GHWP) will collaborate with Malaysia's Ministry of Health to organize high-level events, including the 3rd GHWP Seminar on Innovative Medical Devices and the ASEAN Forum on Innovation and Collaboration in Medical Devices (Shanghai). These onsite sessions will provide tailored insights into regulatory policies and market access opportunities in major global markets, supporting the convergence and harmonization of international regulatory frameworks for medical devices and facilitating more efficient global trade.
