Fintech Forward 2026 Concludes in Bahrain
The fourth edition of Fintech Forward 2026 (FF26) took place at the Exhibition World Bahrain, wrapping up on October 8. This flagship financial forum for the Gulf region showcased an impressive gathering of over 2900 local and international participants, emphasizing its growing significance in the fintech landscape. The event culminated in the signing of more than 60 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and strategic agreements, reflecting a robust commitment to collaboration within the financial services and technology sectors.
The focus of this year's forum was on advancing partnerships, with a notable increase in announcements and signings—65% more than the previous iteration. This growth underscores FF26's role as a catalyst for meaningful economic outcomes, illustrating Bahrain's dynamic financial ecosystem capable of transforming discussions into actionable collaborations.
Among the highlights of FF26 was a pilot project involving Google Cloud's Universal Ledger, introduced by BBK in partnership with ARRAY Innovation, affiliated with Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company. This initiative aims to leverage advanced digital ledger technology in BBK's core banking framework, thereby exploring the potential for tokenized payments and programmable settlement.
Another pivotal announcement came from Beyon, who confirmed an integration agreement with barq Group’s fintech platform. This collaboration indicates Beyon's intention to maintain an economic interest in barq, pending necessary regulatory approvals.
Furthermore, BENEFIT announced its partnership with the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) for the Trade Finance Registry pilot. This program, designed in collaboration with Singapore’s MonetaGo, aims to mitigate risks in trade finance. During the event, Bahrain FinTech Bay unveiled its latest Fintech Ecosystem Report (2024-2026), outlining Bahrain's ongoing progress in regulated execution and highlighting opportunities in AI, tokenization, and cross-border payments.
FF26 also marked the third edition of the NBB Innovation Program, reinforcing its role at the event. Additional collaborations announced include Beyon Connect's AML Referral Programme, in partnership with AMAN Compliance Solutions, and an MoU between Beyon Connect and BENEFIT to explore joint fintech initiatives both locally and internationally. These endeavors focus on integrating capabilities across areas such as digital identity, payments, credit, data analytics, and more.
Moreover, BENEFIT and Huawei signed an MoU aiming for cooperative ventures in digital infrastructure and AI technologies, demonstrating the increasingly intertwined relationship between financial services and tech innovation. Kuwait Finance House – Bahrain further expanded its existing partnership with stc Bahrain to explore new digital solutions and integrated use cases in cash management and trade finance.
A notable feature of FF26 was the debut of the Tech Talent Hub, which highlighted the crucial role of Bahraini talent in supporting global financial operations. With prominent organizations such as Citi, J.P. Morgan, and KPMG involved, the Hub showcased career pathways poised to shape the future of finance and technology sectors.
Bahrain's strong financial services ecosystem, developed through decades of progressive regulatory measures and advanced digital infrastructures, remains vital to the nation's economy. The sector constituted 17.6% of Bahrain's real GDP in 2025, reflecting its pivotal role in economic growth and attracting foreign investments.
Thus, as FF26 concluded its fourth edition with significant milestones and future-oriented initiatives, it set the stage for Bahrain to continue its trajectory as a leading hub for financial innovation in the region. The forum was proudly hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB) and expertly programmed by Forbes Middle East, with esteemed support from various governmental agencies and industry leaders under the theme of "Finance in the Age of Intelligent Infrastructure."
