Remixpoint and Nippon Chikudenchi Launch One of Japan's First Energy Storage Projects

Remixpoint and Nippon Chikudenchi Collaborate on Energy Storage Project

In a groundbreaking initiative, Remixpoint Inc. and Nippon Chikudenchi Co., Ltd. have embarked on an ambitious project to develop energy storage facilities across Japan. Established under the joint fund, NC Pioneer LLC, the collaboration aims to enhance Japan's energy infrastructure and contribute significantly to the nation's transition towards renewable energy sources.

On March 5, 2026, the NC Tamana Aono Energy Storage Facility, situated in Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture, commenced operations. This facility is the first in a series of seven planned for development by the end of 2026. The NC Tamana facility is equipped with a rated output of approximately 2 MW and a storage capacity of around 8 MWh, and it is expected to join the demand response market by June 2026. The facility will play a crucial role in providing system stability and reliability, acting as a regional energy hub that offers adjustability to the power grid.

As the global push towards carbon neutrality accelerates, securing the necessary "regulatory power" for stable electricity supply has become increasingly vital. The energy produced by renewable sources such as solar and wind power can vary significantly due to weather conditions, requiring strategic balancing of supply and demand. This project represents an essential step towards realizing a sustainable and secure energy society.

Project Outlook

Looking ahead, additional energy storage facilities are set to commence operations shortly, including one in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, scheduled for April 2026, and another in Kama City, Fukuoka Prefecture, expected in June 2026. Updates on each facility's progress will be shared as they become definitive.

It’s important to note that the timelines for these projects are subject to change based on various factors, and the company prepares to navigate these challenges to ensure successful implementation.
