Genki Group's Participation in the Senior 'GeeSports' Tournament
On October 1, 2025, coinciding with International Day of Older Persons, the Genki Group proudly participated in the Senior eSports tournament, 'GeeSports,' held at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka. This event highlighted the importance of engaging senior citizens in the realm of gaming, aiming to empower and excite them, despite any decline in physical abilities that may accompany aging.
The Genki Group, a conglomerate known for operating the Shoyuen, a facility dedicated to elder and disability welfare services in Saitama, Japan, is actively involved in expanding the horizons of senior social engagement through innovative approaches, such as this unique gaming initiative. This dual participation not only showcased their dedication to enhancing senior experiences but also positioned them at the forefront of wellness strategies utilizing technology.

The Finals of the Senior eSports GeeSports Tournament

The event commenced at 13:30 and concluded at 15:45, with nearly six teams challenging each other for victory in this thrilling series of matches held at the Festival Station of the 2025 World Expo.
Although the Genki Group faced tough competition and was eliminated in their first match, participants expressed overwhelming joy and excitement. One individual commented, "I never had the chance to use a computer before. My grandchildren were amazed! I’m truly happy to have participated in this tournament at my age!" Another participant shared, "Honestly, I had no idea what to expect, but it was so much fun!" A third participant mentioned, "This was the best experience I've ever had, despite the short notice of my involvement!"
Support staff, who played crucial roles during the matches, indicated that,
"During the actual event, many participants executed moves that were challenging during practice with fantastic precision, including team combo techniques!"
The cooperation from users in the Konosu area further enriched the event. Their engagement in real-world game testing proved invaluable for the development of the GeeSports gaming platform, demonstrating a successful blend of healthcare and entertainment.
