Saitama's First Child Care Facility Job Fair
On March 27, 2026, Saitama will host its inaugural "Child Care Facility Job Fair" at the Sonic City Building in Omiya. Organized collaboratively by the Saitama Prefectural Council of Child Welfare Facilities and the NPO Chai Bora, the event aims to enhance employment opportunities within social welfare care facilities in the region.
The fair promises to be a comprehensive resource for individuals interested in careers related to child care. It specifically caters to students aspiring to become child care workers, social workers, and child guidance counselors, as well as those who may not yet have qualifications but want to explore career options in child care.
Innovative Features of the Fair
The event introduces several significant features to enhance the experience for participants:
Consultation Booths
In addition to facility booths, the fair will feature a dedicated "Anything Consultation Booth" run by Chai Bora. This space allows attendees to freely discuss their concerns—from navigating the qualifications needed for various roles to forming a career without prior experience— in a supportive environment. This approach aims to ease any anxieties participants may have about interacting with facility representatives.
Foundation Course on Social Care
For those unfamiliar with child care facilities, a "Foundation Course on Social Care" will be conducted during the fair. This session will address vital questions like, "What are child care facilities like?" and "What qualifications are necessary?" By simplifying complex topics into accessible information, participants will better understand the work involved, even without prior knowledge.
Pre-registration Advantages
This year, the fair has adopted a pre-registration system that allows for timely promotion and tailored responses based on participant numbers. To entice potential attendees, Chai Bora has produced a "Social Care Facility Interview Preparation Book (digital version)" as a special pre-registration incentive. This resource gathers insights from nationwide surveys of facilities, providing applicants with current interview trends and preparation tips.
Engaging Activities
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a stamp rally. By visiting at least three facility booths, participants can earn a helpful guidebook tailored for aspiring child care workers, social workers, and mental health professionals. This fun activity encourages deeper engagement with multiple facilities, allowing for a broader exploration of career options.
Enhanced Promotional Materials
To showcase the unique characteristics of various facilities, promotional materials distributed at the event have been revamped. The content will now be more focused on individual facilities’ attributes and cultures, facilitating smoother connections for subsequent facility visits and hiring processes.
Expanding Outreach Efforts
This year, outreach efforts have significantly broadened, targeting 238 schools in fields such as welfare, psychology, and education—an increase from last year's 73. The communication strategy includes emails, flyers, and personal calls in collaboration with participating facilities to reach potential candidates who may not yet have considered a career in child care.
Digital Promotion using Social Media
Given that the social welfare sector has historically underutilized social media, this year’s fair plans to maximize visibility through collaborative campaigns on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter). By harnessing social media, Chai Bora aims to engage a youthful audience and build excitement around the event with joint promotional efforts from all 21 participating facilities.
