World Youth Forum Unveils Global AI Talent Compact at AI for Good Global Summit 2026
World Youth Forum Launches Global AI Talent Compact
On July 10, 2026, the World Youth Forum (WYF) unveiled an ambitious new initiative, the Global AI Talent Compact, during the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 held in Geneva. With WYF acting as an official partner for this key session, the summit stands as a leading international platform focused on the implications and advancements of artificial intelligence (AI), organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in close collaboration with over 50 UN agencies and the Swiss government.
The Global AI Talent Compact seeks to create an expansive global network predicated on five essential commitments:
1. Enhancing AI Literacy: Ensuring that access to AI knowledge and skills is widespread among youth worldwide.
2. Defining Essential Human Capabilities: Identifying and prioritizing the skills necessary to thrive in an AI-driven landscape.
3. Scaling Challenge-Based Learning: Promoting hands-on, real-world learning experiences that prepare the youth for contemporary challenges.
4. Safeguarding Youth Well-Being: Ensuring the mental and social well-being of young individuals as they adapt to changes brought by AI.
5. Recognizing True Ability: Shifting evaluations of talent from reliance solely on qualifications to demonstrable, real-world achievements.
Houston Hou, the Global Executive Convener of WYF, emphasized the transformational impact of AI on youth education and talent recognition. He remarked, "AI is changing not only how young people learn and create, but how talent is identified and recognized. Young people need pathways through which real ability can be seen, trusted, and connected. The Compact is an open invitation to build those pathways together."
The launch event gathered prominent figures from various sectors, including representatives from UN agencies, academia, and youth innovation sectors. This included influential speakers such as Fabrizio Hochschild, former Under-Secretary-General of the UN, and Frédéric Werner, Head of Strategic Engagement for AI for Good at the ITU. Others in attendance included individuals from AI Singapore, the ASEAN Foundation, and renowned student AI groups from institutions like Imperial College and the University of Toronto.
Following the launch, WYF plans to mobilize founding supporters around the globe, including universities, student AI societies, and industry partners. The goal is to promote year-round, challenge-based AI learning opportunities, introduce innovative methods for recognizing talent, and create pathways that connect youth with genuine career opportunities.
