Eco Wave Power Global AB, a pioneering enterprise in onshore wave energy technology, is making significant headway toward its 1 megawatt wave energy project situated in Porto, Portugal. This progress comes with the recent initiation of rehabilitation works at the Barra do Douro breakwater, an essential stage for the successful deployment of their technology. The works are managed by APDL (Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo), which oversees the maintenance and upgrade of port infrastructure, currently focusing on repairing storm damage to the breakwater.

As these rehabilitation works advance, Eco Wave Power has received reassuring updates from APDL confirming that the efforts are on schedule. This ensures that the coastal infrastructure critical for the installation of the company's wave energy technology remains intact and ready for deployment.

In mid-August 2026, Eco Wave Power's Founder and CEO, Inna Braverman, is set to journey to Porto for a pivotal meeting with APDL. This meeting will prioritize discussions around the anticipated completion timeline of the breakwater rehabilitation works and the necessary coordination that would enable Eco Wave Power to access the site for the installation phase of its project.

A noteworthy aspect of this partnership is APDL's commitment to support Eco Wave Power's request for an extender timeline regarding the grid-connection deadline. This extension aims to align the project’s regulatory milestones with the completion of the rehabilitation works and the subsequent installation of Eco Wave Power’s equipment. Such support exemplifies strong collaboration between the two organizations, highlighting the importance of strategic partnerships in renewable energy projects.

During her visit, Braverman also plans to engage with key local Portuguese subcontractors who are crucial for the project’s realization. The meetings will cover various essential execution components like civil engineering, steel works, hydraulic systems, and electrical works, alongside discussions about grid connection and overall construction-related activities.
