Solution Creators' Project in Ukraine
Solution Creators Inc. (SCS), headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, has commenced a feasibility study from September 8, 2025, with the aim of supporting the recovery of Ukraine's energy infrastructure. This initiative is funded by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and is part of the project supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), entitled "Reviving Ukraine's Green Industry through Technology Transfer from Japanese Companies."
To implement this project, SCS has formed partnerships with local collaborators, including MHP Eco Energy, the energy arm of MHP, the largest poultry producer in Eastern Europe; the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine (UABIO), which promotes biomass utilization; and the Public Union Global 100 RE UKRAINE (GRU), which is focused on developing and utilizing renewable energy in Ukraine. Internationally, SCS has also joined hands with Re:CS, a company with plant technology related to waste utilization, and CYTOK GmbH, which specializes in green hydrogen production and methanation, as well as Kyushu University's Energy Research Institute (Q-PIT), which possesses expertise in renewable energy.
The project aims to utilize SCS's patented carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) technology to expedite the production and supply of biomethane, contributing to carbon-neutral fuel production for local consumption and exports to the EU, thereby accelerating the revival of Ukraine's green energy industry.
Addressing the Needs of Ukraine
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has severely impacted energy supply infrastructures such as large power plants. It is essential to establish a stable green energy supply system that promotes local production and consumption of carbon-neutral fuels without increasing carbon emissions. This includes the potential export of biomethane produced within Ukraine to EU nations. Given the current situation, SCS is committed to collaborating with established entities in the region, including MEE, Re:CS, GRU, CYTOK, Q-PIT, and UABIO, to leverage local biomass resources effectively for the creation of a decentralized green energy infrastructure.
The project will explore two business models focused on utilizing local underused biomass resources:
1.
Multi-fuel Production from Biomass: This model involves producing biogas from biomass fermentation, refining the biogas to obtain biomethane via CO₂ separation membranes, and efficiently utilizing the CO₂ through integration with renewable energy sources to produce additional methane.
2.
Co-production of Multiple Raw Materials from Biomass: Similar to the first model, this will also involve producing biogas and biomethane while simultaneously cultivating algae from the separated CO₂ to produce valuable organic materials such as proteins and bio-oils.
UNIDO’s Support and Future Prospects
The acceptance of this project by UNIDO signifies a significant acknowledgment of SCS's unique technological contributions to Ukraine's pressing need for green infrastructure recovery. Through this initiative, SCS aspires to rebuild the living standards in Ukraine while collaborating with experts domestically and internationally. SCS aims to drive the project's progress in partnership with UNIDO, thereby aiding in the reconstruction and enhancement of Ukraine's green energy infrastructure.
Comments from Key Leaders
