Shandong HiTHIUM Launches World's First Long-Duration Energy Storage Facility
An Era of Scalable Energy Solutions Begins
On August 7, 2026, Shandong HiTHIUM celebrated the grand opening of its integrated industrial park for long-duration energy storage (LDES) in the New Area of Heze Luxi, China. This revolutionary site, named the Heze Base, stands as the world's inaugural facility dedicated entirely to LDES, showcasing HiTHIUM's commitment to setting industry benchmarks from the outset.
The establishment of the Heze Base is a monumental achievement for HiTHIUM, as it solidifies its integrated industrial infrastructure on a global scale, heralding a new era for intelligent manufacturing and large-scale LDES distribution. With an estimated total area of around 80 hectares and a total investment exceeding 13 billion RMB, this project is recognized as a national key initiative and a flagship undertaking in Shandong's new energy system development.
HiTHIUM's base focuses extensively on the entire value chain of the LDES industry. It encompasses the intelligent manufacturing of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells, module integration, system production, and procurement of raw materials, achieving a comprehensive integration from materials to cells and systems.
In comments during the inauguration, Wang Pengcheng, co-founder and CEO, emphasized that the production launch marks a pivotal phase for the Heze Base in terms of large-scale manufacturing, market-oriented delivery, and ecosystem development. HiTHIUM aims to foster an industrial cluster that sets national standards for LDES.
The Heze LDES park will serve as the central engine of HiTHIUM's mission, bringing together partners from across the entire value chain—from generation and transmission to distribution and consumption. This holistic approach emphasizes leadership in three crucial areas:
1. Product Leadership: HiTHIUM is at the forefront of defining and implementing comprehensive LDES solutions. With the Heze Base's scalable capacity, the company intends to unlock the full manufacturing potential for high-capacity products, positioning the global lithium-based LDES industry toward large-scale supply.
2. Production Efficiency: The Heze Base employs cutting-edge fifth-generation smart manufacturing lines developed in-house, enabling a synergy that covers key materials, cell manufacturing, system integration, and global distribution. This strategically optimizes the quality, efficiency, and scalability of products available to consumers globally.
3. Integrated Smart Manufacturing: The integrated smart manufacturing system at the Heze Base encompasses the entire process, right from raw materials to the delivery of prefabricated containers. Enabled by advanced production lines with capacities exceeding 15 GWh per line, this new generation of production reduces physical space by 50% per GWh, labor costs by 58%, and energy consumption by 13%, all while improving efficiency by 200% compared to previous generations.
With an automation rate exceeding 95% and over 1,000 quality control checkpoints enhanced by AI visual inspections, the Heze Base promises low operational costs, high-efficiency delivery, and superior product quality. Thus, it aims to provide globally competitive LDES solutions to clients around the world.
In summary, the inauguration of the HiTHIUM Heze Base marks a turning point not only for the company but also for the energy storage sector as a whole. With its comprehensive approach and commitment to excellence, Shandong HiTHIUM is well-positioned to lead the charge in the sustainable energy revolution.
