MetLife and Global Citizen Launch 'Footwork for Futures' Challenge to Empower Youth

MetLife and Global Citizen Introduce 'Footwork for Futures'

On May 12, 2026, MetLife, Inc. and Global Citizen announced the kick-off of a global social media challenge entitled 'Footwork for Futures.' The initiative aims to expand opportunities in education and sports for children, fostering the development of confident and resilient communities.

The 'Footwork for Futures' challenge invites individuals to share short videos of themselves attempting soccer ball tricks on platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook, with the hashtag #FootworkForFutures. For every video submitted, MetLife pledges to donate $5 to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, with a total contribution goal of up to $100,000. These funds will help grassroots organizations around the world enhance access to high-quality education and sports for children.

This initiative is rooted in a commitment from the MetLife Foundation, which has contributed $9 million as a founding donor to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, providing grants to organizations focused on education and sports programs globally. The 'Footwork for Futures' challenge seeks to harness the excitement surrounding the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026™ to inspire children and strengthen communities.

Nuria Garcia, Global Chief Sustainability Officer of MetLife and President of the MetLife Foundation, stated, "The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund combines the universal language of sports with the power of education to create positive change for children and communities. 'Footwork for Futures' makes this mission accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Every video submitted is a meaningful step towards a brighter future for youth worldwide."

Participation in 'Footwork for Futures' is open to everyone, regardless of skill level or experience. Each participant can showcase their unique style of keeping the soccer ball in motion. The challenge runs from May 12, 2026, to July 19, 2026, or until the total donations reach $100,000. While videos can still be shared after the challenge ends, they will not contribute to the donation total. Participants are encouraged to challenge friends and family to join in as well.

For detailed instructions on how to participate, visit Global Citizen's official page.

All videos must comply with the rules of the respective social media platforms and the terms and conditions of this campaign. The videos must clearly show real people safely performing soccer ball tricks or attempts.
