PACU Foundation's Generous Contribution on Giving Tuesday
On December 3, 2024, the Piedmont Advantage Credit Union made a generous announcement that the PACU Foundation gifted a total of $31,200 to six North Carolina charities in celebration of Giving Tuesday. This contribution aims to enhance the ability of these organizations to support local residents facing financial challenges.
Giving Tuesday, which originated in 2012, has evolved into a remarkable global movement promoting generosity and philanthropy, encouraging individuals and organizations alike to contribute positively to their communities. PACU Foundation President Jean Golden-Rumer emphasized the importance of this day, noting it as an ideal occasion for such significant donations.
Since its establishment in 2020, the PACU Foundation has gifted over $100,000 to various charities throughout the region. This latest donation was facilitated thanks to the generous support from corporate sponsors, fundraising events, and the selfless contributions of employees and members of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union.
Each of the six charities received $5,200, earmarked for specific use in their respective community efforts. Among the recipients is the A Storehouse for Jesus, which assists residents struggling with financial limitations, illness, domestic violence, and homelessness, distributing essentials like clothing and food within Davie County and surrounding regions.
Another beneficiary is the Education Over Debt Foundation, dedicated to offering scholarships to African American high school seniors in Mecklenburg County, including assistance for undocumented high school students in advocating for their education and citizenship pathway.
The Help, Incorporated's Square One Family Justice Center, tackles domestic violence and abuse by providing financial resources and a newly constructed support facility, aimed at serving victims in Rockingham County.
The Jim Shaw ACE Academy focuses on delivering a comprehensive curriculum in aviation, financial literacy, and STEM education to middle and high school students in Forsyth County, helping to empower the next generation of innovators in aviation.
Also participating is The Christian Mission, a holistic organization that strives to combat intergenerational poverty through crisis assistance and educational programs in Iredell County, alongside The Women’s Resource Center of Greensboro, which works to promote self-sufficiency among women by assessing their needs and connecting them to community resources.
This marks the third consecutive year the PACU Foundation has celebrated its charitable contributions on Giving Tuesday, reaffirming its commitment to community support and philanthropy.
As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the PACU Foundation actively seeks to provide assistance that fosters financial literacy, educational training, and emergency aid to those overcoming financial hardship across the Triad and Charlotte areas. The foundation continues to engage local communities and encourages ongoing donations to bolster these valuable initiatives.
In conclusion, the PACU Foundation's latest efforts epitomize the spirit of Giving Tuesday, showcasing how corporations can effectively contribute to tackling pressing community issues. The impact of these charitable donations serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to follow suit and remain dedicated to community improvement and support.
