During the Mobile AI Summit, held as part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Shanghai, Huawei brought together telecom operators, AI ecosystem partners, researchers, and industry stakeholders. This convergence of minds was aimed at discussing the evolution of mobile AI, particularly in the context of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) networks. The attendees reached an agreement on two critical directions for mobile AI development: enhancing the quality of 5G-A uplink capabilities and the need for synergy between networks and services to effectively monetize mobile AI usage.

The launch of the GSMA Foundry initiative, "Mobile Networks for AI Prosperity," was a crucial highlight of the summit, emphasizing the beginning of a paradigm shift in how telecom operators approach user convenience and the design of their networks. Senior leaders, including Wen Ku, president of the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), emphasized that the integration of 5G-A with AI is crucial for future telecommunications developments. They underscored the need for setting standards and deepening intelligent network integration while fostering collaborative development across ecosystems to unlock the future of mobile AI.

Industry pioneers from companies like Rokid, MiniMax, and Unitree Robotics discussed how AI service providers can leverage new market opportunities and become leaders in the competitive landscape. As AI agents evolve, service interactions are expanding from mere touch interfaces to multimodal engagements that incorporate voice, video, and spatial computing. The need for high-speed audiovisual data transmission is paramount; for instance, real-time interactions and high-quality video calls demand uplink speeds of at least 20 Mbps. Presenters, including Zhi-Quan Luo, a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and IEEE member, shared insights on applying AI for network optimization and offered strategic plans for the widespread adoption of AI technologies.

AI is transforming mobile networks and the broader telecom industry by assisting operators in digitizing their networks and operations. This transformation facilitates differentiated services tailored to various sectors, signaling a shift from traffic monetization to business monetization. During discussions, participants agreed that when assessing the network's capabilities for mobile AI, the most critical parameters to consider are uplink bandwidth, latency, and stability.

As a leading provider of 5G-A technologies, Huawei presented its suite of GigaBand solutions that enhance uplink performance. The introduction of the Optsolver solution for radio interface resource optimization allows for efficient resource management. GigaBand supports the seamless development of 5G-A networks, facilitating new AI services. This ability to construct agile networks ensures service level agreements (SLAs) are met while accommodating varied services such as high-quality streaming, AI-powered virtual assistants, and cloud gaming.

A notable achievement highlighted was the deployment of GigaBand technology in Hong Kong, which effectively merged various 4G and 5G frequency bands. This integration resulted in a two-fold improvement in 5G bandwidth while maintaining stable 4G services, significantly benefiting operators striving to create efficient, intelligent, and low-carbon 5G networks.

Going forward, as the 5G-A modernization progresses with the implementation of GigaBand and other innovations, while fostering cross-industry collaboration, mobile AI is poised to become a pivotal revenue growth engine for the telecom industry. It will enable a new era of digital life where intelligent services are ubiquitous, fundamentally reshaping how users engage with technology.
