The survey, targeting individuals aged 20 to 69 across Japan, found that nearly half of the respondents, 47.4%, feel that AI has become a more integrated part of their everyday lives compared to two years ago.

The top three applications include search engines, conversational AI, and navigation apps that provide route guidance and traffic forecasts. Concerns Over AI Utilization



Despite the growing acceptance and usage of AI, there are notable concerns. Respondents expressed apprehension regarding the potential for misinformation generated deliberately by humans and the risk of AI delivering incorrect data. Other worries included the decline of human cognitive capacities and creativity, unsolicited collection of personal information and behavioral data, and the potential misuse of AI technology for malicious purposes, such as cyber attacks or military applications.

Human vs. AI: The Consultation Preference



Interestingly, the survey also explored the preference for consulting human beings versus AI for various types of queries. In all ten categories presented, a majority opted to consult a human first. However, areas where AI is closing the gap include inquiries relating to specialized work or study topics, slightly uncomfortable personal issues, and even practical matters like recipe suggestions. This indicates a gradual acceptance of AI as a secondary, yet competent, source of information and advice.

Positive Experiences with AI



On a lighter note, many respondents shared enjoyable and beneficial experiences while using AI. Participants appreciated the summarization of searched content, suggestions for niche information, and having a responsive partner for discussing personal dilemmas—something many find difficult to communicate to another person. The efficiency brought to work and study through AI tools was acknowledged across various age groups, underlining the utility and versatility of AI in enhancing productivity and problem-solving skills.

The survey was conducted using an internet research method, utilizing Cross Marketing's self-administered questionnaire tool, QiQUMO. The research took place from July 25th to 26th, 2025, and gathered responses from 1,100 participants from all 47 prefectures in Japan. The aim of the survey was to understand perceptions about AI and how individuals utilize it in their daily lives.
