Exclusive Auction Features Al Aronowitz Archive with Bob Dylan Items

Exclusive Auction Featuring Al Aronowitz Archive

Julien's Auctions is gearing up for a spectacular event titled "Celebrating Bob Dylan: The Aronowitz Archive, T Bone Burnett, and More," scheduled for January 18, 2025. This much-anticipated auction will be held at the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville, Tennessee, showcasing a unique collection of artifacts linked to the legendary Bob Dylan.

Among the 60 exceptional items available for bidding, 50 originate from the collection of journalist Al Aronowitz, a pivotal figure in shaping the connections between some of the greatest artists in music history. Two of the most notable pieces in this auction include three typewritten drafts of Dylan’s iconic song, "Mr. Tambourine Man," expected to fetch between $400,000 and $600,000, and an early oil painting by Dylan from 1968, anticipated to sell for $200,000 to $300,000. Other highlights include a flyer from Dylan's first major concert at Town Hall in New York City in 1963, era photographs, and original sketches.

The crown jewel of the auction will be a unique Ionic Original disc featuring a new studio recording of Dylan’s timeless classic, "The Times They Are a-Changin'," produced by Grammy winner T Bone Burnett. This exclusive item is estimated to sell for $400,000 to $600,000 and marks only the second public sale of a recording on the Ionic Original format, following the 2022 release of "Blowin' In The Wind."

Reflecting on his father's influence, Myles Aronowitz stated, "My father had an incredible ability to connect people... He introduced Allen Ginsberg to Bob Dylan and Bob Dylan to The Beatles. This collection demonstrates that my father could identify great artists and build relationships with them." T Bone Burnett added, "Hearing Bob Dylan sing 'The Times They Are a-Changin' sixty years after he wrote it is a moving experience... The Ionic Original disc captures the final version of this legendary song."

To enhance the experience, the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum will host a special exhibition from December 18, 2024, to January 17, 2025, featuring key pieces from Al Aronowitz’s collection. Visitors will have the chance to view items such as a harmonica signed by Dylan, the original typewritten lyrics of "Mr. Tambourine Man," a 1968 oil painting, a Fender Telecaster guitar, and a decorated Levi's jacket from the 1987 film "Hearts of Fire."

This auction presents an exceptional opportunity for fans and collectors to acquire rare artifacts that celebrate Bob Dylan’s impressive career, some of which come directly from the Al Aronowitz archive.
