Launch of Digital Tool Grant Support for SMEs in Tokyo
Starting from May 22, 2024, the Navit Corporation, located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is thrilled to announce the commencement of application support for the
Small and Medium Enterprises Digital Implementation Promotion Subsidy Program. This initiative is an excellent opportunity for small businesses looking to embrace digital transformation through the acquisition of digital tools.
What is the Subsidy Program?
This subsidy program will officially start accepting applications from June 11, 2024, and will run until July 3, 2024. The program aims to ease the financial burden on small businesses by offering a grant to cover up to 50,000 (with a subsidy rate of 2/3) for expenses related to the introduction of digital tools.
This is fundamentally a government initiative to enhance digitalization and the integration of artificial intelligence into the operations of small businesses across Tokyo, aptly referred to as “Tokyo’s Digitalization and AI Adoption Subsidy.”
Who Can Apply?
The grant is targeted at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Tokyo looking to digitalize their operations through new digital tools. Interested businesses are highly encouraged to make an application for this substantial financial support.
What Expenses are Covered?
The eligible expenses for this subsidy include costs incurred for purchasing new digital tools necessary for the digital transformation of business activities. Specifically, the covered expenses include:
- - Costs for the digital tools themselves (software, not hardware).
- - Initial setup, customization, and ongoing support related to the operational maintenance of the digital tools.
Examples of Eligible Tools:
- - New cloud-based accounting software.
- - Business automation tools.
Non-Eligible Expenses:
- - Hardware devices (PCs, tablets).
- - General-purpose software (including operating systems, security software, spreadsheet, and word processing software).
However, if software requires hardware for connection to realize its intended purpose, the specialized connecting device may be eligible for the subsidy as well, but only up to a grant limit of 50,000.
Additionally, hardware that operates in tandem with specific software can also receive funding, subject to a cap of 50,000.
