IKEA Unveils an Exciting Cooking and Eating Event in NYC to Celebrate 40 Years

IKEA House Warming: A Celebration of Cooking and Eating

IKEA U.S. has officially launched the IKEA House Warming, an immersive pop-up experience in the heart of New York City. This exciting event, running from October 2 to October 26, celebrates not only IKEA's new range of cooking and eating essentials but also marks a milestone of 40 years of IKEA's presence in the U.S. Alongside that, it honors the global love for the iconic IKEA meatball, which has won the hearts of customers since its introduction in 1985.

A Journey Through Culinary Experiences

40 years have shaped IKEA into a beloved household name, and to commemorate this, employees and attendees will engage in various activities that connect them with IKEA's culinary offerings. From learning about new cooking methods to sampling experimental dishes, the immersive setup will guide visitors through a world of cooking and dining. Paul Anderson, the Home Furnishing and Retail Design Leader at IKEA U.S., stated, “With IKEA House Warming, we wanted to go beyond showcasing our delicious food options and highlight how IKEA has a solution for every aspect of cooking and eating.” This event aims to be more than just an introduction to IKEA products; it's an invitation to reimagine home life centered around food and community.

Explore What’s New

The pop-up will feature Gustaf Westman's limited-edition VINTERFINT collection, which reinterprets Swedish holiday traditions with a modern touch. Expect playful and sculptural designs, including porcelain plates, cups, candleholders, and even the already iconic meatball plate. All items will be available for purchase starting October 1 and will add a festive twist to any dining experience.

Family-Friendly Activities

There is something for everyone at the IKEA House Warming. Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including:
  • - A daily (m)eatball happy hour
  • - A children’s scavenger hunt
  • - A photo opportunity to capture the moment of celebration
  • - Personalization stations for FRAKTA bags
  • - Interactive kitchen demos and tastings where guests can learn how simple it is to create delicious meals using IKEA products.

Sustainability Focus

IKEA is committed to sustainability, evident through over 200 new products that will support cooking and eating at home while minimizing waste. Notably, part of this initiative includes the introduction of a plant-based offering: the falafel ball, making its debut in January 2026. This reflects the brand's ongoing commitment to plant-based options and healthier eating choices.

Special Anniversary Deals

For customers unable to make it to the pop-up, IKEA is announcing 40 weeks of special offers as a part of their 40th-anniversary celebration, starting from September 24 through June 29, 2026. Shoppers can enjoy exclusive products and limited-edition apparel, along with a throwback offer on the beloved (m)eatball plate, priced at just $2.99 until October 28. With so much to explore, many carefully curated events and offers will enrich the IKEA experience.
