HLRBO Secures $2.5 Million to Broaden Private Hunting Access Nationwide

HLRBO Secures $2.5 Million in Funding to Enhance Private Hunting Access

In an exciting development for outdoor enthusiasts and landowners alike, HLRBO, a pioneering marketplace that links landowners with hunters seeking exclusive access to private land, has recently completed a significant funding round, securing $2.5 million. This funding, spearheaded by Mairs & Power Venture Capital of St. Paul, alongside contributions from various individual and angel investors, marks a pivotal moment in the company’s growth trajectory as it aims to expand its national presence.

Established in 2015 in Northern Minnesota, HLRBO has evolved from a local startup into a nationwide resource, providing hunting leases across all 50 states. The platform boasts an impressive user base, comprising 14,000 paying subscribers and a total of 225,000 users, with more than 1.7 million acres of land listings. This latest infusion of capital allows HLRBO to propel its mission forward, offering improved services for both hunters and landowners.

"This funding helps us keep building the marketplace for landowners and hunters," stated Heath Schubert, the founder and CEO of HLRBO. He emphasizes that the quest for private land access has historically been fragmented. HLRBO aims to dismantle these barriers by developing a comprehensive infrastructure that simplifies the user experience.

The recent funding round follows previous investments from Great North Ventures, Gopher Angels, and other financial supporters, totaling $1 million in February 2024, and $600,000 in August of the same year. Scott Burns, General Partner at Mairs & Power Venture Capital, remarked on the vibrant marketplace HLRBO has cultivated, which caters to a vast number of hunters in search of prime hunting land throughout the United States.

With the new capital, HLRBO plans to enhance its inventory of leases significantly, improve its web and app platforms, and invest heavily in marketing and building strategic partnerships. Innovative mapping technology and AI-driven intelligence will also play a central role in HLRBO's expansion. Among the new features are parcel-level mapping, AI-driven land scoring, and an advanced visualization tool offering a realistic 3D representation of land parcels through a cinematic drone flyover experience.

Additionally, HLRBO is broadening its educational efforts by publishing valuable content directed at landowners and hunters alike. This includes a news blog, in-depth feature stories, and a printed newspaper that will be distributed to landowners and representatives in the field.

Throughout 2026, HLRBO will attend various trade shows and industry events to forge collaborations with outdoor product companies and hunting media outlets. The focus will also include leveraging social media and video content to engage with the community better and expand its user base. These strategic initiatives are set to position HLRBO as the leading technology and marketplace hub for private hunting access in North America.
