Little Leaf Farms Opens New Greenhouse, Becomes Largest CEA Lettuce Producer Globally

Little Leaf Farms Expands Its Pennsylvania Campus

In a significant development for the food industry, Little Leaf Farms has officially opened a new greenhouse at its McAdoo, Pennsylvania campus. This expansion, marking their fourth greenhouse at the site, solidifies the position of Little Leaf Farms as the world's largest producer of leafy greens grown through controlled environment agriculture (CEA). Now occupying a whopping 40 acres, the McAdoo campus plays a critical role in supporting Little Leaf Farms' mission to provide fresh leafy greens to a growing consumer base across the Southeast, Midwest, and Canada.

Currently, Little Leaf Farms holds more than 54% market share in the indoor lettuce sector, a remarkable feat achieved in just a decade since the company first embarked on its journey. This milestone aligns with its continuous goal of transforming the food system by offering better quality greens through innovative agricultural practices. The newly established greenhouse will significantly boost production, allowing the company to meet the increasing demand seen in their expansion into more than 8,000 grocery stores nationwide.

Paul Sellew, Founder and CEO of Little Leaf Farms, expressed his pride in the company's journey, stating, "2025 marks a decade of transformation and growth for Little Leaf Farms. When we started 10 years ago, controlled environment agriculture for leafy greens was virtually nonexistent in the U.S. Today, Little Leaf Farms has expanded what is possible in CEA, reshaping retailer assortments and consumer perceptions and pushing the packaged salad industry into a new era of variety and quality."

One of the key components of this expansion is the introduction of the new Romaine Leaf lettuce, an innovation that Little Leaf Farms is particularly excited about. This new product has effectively doubled its distribution since its launch in July, showcasing the company's ability to adapt to consumer preferences. The Romaine Leaf lettuce maintains the size of conventional field-grown Romaine while ensuring the classic crispness that consumers love. As a result, Little Leaf Farms has established itself as the only greenhouse in the world capable of growing
