Since its inception in 1953, the Canon Photo Contest has been a platform for amateur photographers to showcase their skills. This year marks the 60th edition, featuring a total of six categories:

• - Open Category: Includes snapshots, documentaries, and creative images.
• - Nature Category: Focused on natural landscapes, flowers, and wildlife.
• - Motion Category: Captures dynamic subjects such as trains, airplanes, ships, sports, and motorsports.
• - Portrait Category: Dedicated to portrait photography.
• - Under 30 Category: Open to participants born after May 7, 1995, with no restriction on theme or subject.
• - Web Category: Allows for submissions without theme restrictions.

The entries will be judged by notable professional photographers including Akira Igarashi, Ayano Sudo, Yoshihiro Tatekawa, Ikuko Tsurumaki, Kaoru Miwa, and Yuki Ueda for the Web Category.

Prizes and Recognition

Each category will award Gold, Silver, and Bronze prizes along with commendations for honorable mentions. Furthermore, the best entry across all categories will be honored with the coveted Grand Prize. The winners will be announced on December 1, 2026, and notifications will be sent to all winners by mid-October.

Entry Specifications

To ensure a fair competition, only original works that have not been previously published can be entered, captured with digital or film cameras with sensor sizes limited to 35mm or smaller. For all categories except the Web Category, submissions must be in printed format. Each participant may submit up to 10 entries per category, and multiple categories can be entered simultaneously.

The Under 30 Category specifically caters to a younger audience, encouraging fresh perspectives in the world of photography. To enter, artists will need to register for a Canon ID.
