Daesang Shines at IFT 2025: A Showcase of Innovation
Daesang Corporation recently made waves at the
IFT 2025, billed as the world's largest food technology expo, held from July 14 to 16 in Chicago, Illinois. This annual event, organized by the Institute of Food Technologists, drew more than
20,000 attendees from around 90 countries, with the intent to explore next-generation food ingredients. Daesang returned to this major platform after presenting its unique offerings at the previous expo, further showcasing its 69 years of expertise in the specialty food ingredient sector.
The company displayed a diverse array of innovative products that reflect its strong competitive advantage in food ingredient markets. With an emphasis on healthier choices, Daesang garnered enthusiastic feedback from expo visitors through live demonstrations, particularly highlighting their unique
umami flavors and low-sodium alternatives.
Among the star attractions was
Allulose, a next-generation sweetener introduced under the
Sweevero brand, which emphasizes alternative sweeteners. This rare sugar, naturally present in fruits like figs and raisins, mimics the sweetness of regular sugar but is largely unmetabolized by the human body, leading to near-zero calorie content. As the demand for low-sugar and low-calorie foods continues to surge, Allulose stands out as a vital ingredient in Daesang's portfolio. In line with this trend, Daesang constructed a state-of-the-art
Allulose production facility in
Gunsan, South Korea, and is gearing up to market this sweetener across the United States, Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
In addition, Daesang presented its
NAMINO® series, which offers natural seasoning solutions that cater to the burgeoning clean-label and vegan trends. This next-generation natural flavor enhancer achieves a rich umami taste while cutting sodium levels by as much as
30%. The NAMINO lineup includes products like
NAMINO UH (Upfront Umami High) for immediate flavor and
NAMINO LH (Lingering Umami High) providing a clean finish. Another notable highlight was
Dsavory, which delivers meaty and roasted aromas, designed to replace traditional seasoning methods. All products comply with
FEMA-GRAS standards recognized by the FDA, ensuring both safety and quality in ingredient sourcing.
Another groundbreaking product showcased was
EMULAID, Daesang’s plant-based emulsion stabilizer. This innovation facilitates the stable mixing of oil and water, a crucial barrier in food production. EMULAID is particularly valuable for developing vegan and allergen-free products by replacing animal-derived emulsifiers such as egg whites and casein. Additionally, it safeguards active ingredients like omega-3s and vitamins, effectively enhancing shelf life and overall product quality. With applications in coffee creamers, plant-based beverages, dressings, and more, EMULAID is positioned as a versatile solution tailored to diverse manufacturing needs.
Hyo-hoon Lee, who is the Head of Ingredient Marketing at Daesang, expressed excitement about the event, stating,
“IFT 2025 provided a valuable opportunity to showcase our high-functionality specialty ingredients to industry experts while engaging directly with international buyers.” He added,
“We are committed to continuous innovation based on our 69-year heritage in ingredient technology, always striving to provide optimal solutions that meet evolving global demands.”
