Fruit Attraction 2025: A Landmark Event in Global Agriculture
The Fruit Attraction 2025 event, organized by IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX, has successfully concluded its 17th edition with unprecedented attendance figures. This year's fair drew in a remarkable
121,137 professionals from
152 countries, marking a
3% increase in total participation and a
5% rise in international representation compared to the previous year.
This impressive influx of attendees signifies a growing global interest in the agriculture and food sectors. A noteworthy
49% of participants hailed from outside Spain, which showcases the fair’s ability to attract a diverse international audience. The
Andalusia, Valencia, Murcia, and Catalonia regions of Spain played key roles in this year's event, demonstrating the local commitment to promoting the agricultural industry. Additionally, countries such as
Italy, France, the Netherlands, and the UK, among others from regions like
Peru, Chile, Brazil, and South Africa, significantly contributed to the international diversity of the event.
The exhibition also marked historical growth with a total of
2,485 exhibiting companies from
64 countries, utilizing
78,212 square meters of exhibition space. This represents an
11% increase in the display area and a
13% growth in exhibitors compared to the previous year. The fair provided an essential platform for international promotion and engagement through its
'International Buyers Programme,' which was sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, ICEX, and FEPEX, attracting
600 key buyers from
58 countries.
In a nod to expanding sustainability efforts, the fair highlighted
Malaysia and Mexico as this year's guest importing countries. Furthermore, over
3,200 participants attended technical sessions and congress programs, showcasing
95 sessions focused on the latest trends in innovation, sustainability, logistics, and technology within the fruit and vegetable sector. The
tomato was put in the spotlight as the star product of this edition, recognized for its culinary, nutritional, and cultural value, along with its role in symbolizing excellence and sustainable horticultural practices in Spain.
The event served as a hub for industry meetings, including the
Joint Fruit and Vegetable Committee for France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, aiming to discuss findings and proposals related to multiple key products. Such discussions focused on tomatoes, strawberries, garlic, peaches, nectarines, apples, pears, citrus fruits, and ready-to-eat products, all contributing to the formulation of future agricultural policies.
Innovation took center stage as well, with the
Innovation Hub Awards recognizing remarkable products and services in the industry, attracting
50 applications and honoring
nine finalists. The
Fresh Produce Award was won by the
IRTA - Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology, while
Edencore took home the award for the FV Industry category, and
Pallet Sure was recognized for sustainability initiatives.
Additionally, the
Best Stand Awards celebrated exhibitors excelling in innovation, design, and originality, with
BayWa Global Produce earning accolades for sustainability,
Fontestad for best design, and
BCC - Grupo Cajamar for most original stand space. The
People's Choice Awards were determined through over
6,000 votes, with notable winners including
Moguer Cuna de Platero for fresh products and
Hispatec Agrointeligencia for innovation and technology.
The
XV APAE Journalism Awards alongside the
Fruit Attraction Journalism Award recognized Fructidor from France for their exemplary reporting. This year’s event is estimated to have generated an economic impact of
€407 million for Madrid, sustaining over
3,066 jobs, thus positioning Fruit Attraction and IFEMA MADRID as key economic and social drivers in the region.
