Bitly Appoints Matt Young as New CTO
In a significant strategic move, Bitly Inc. has appointed Matt Young as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This appointment is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the company’s leadership team under CEO Peter Krivkovich, who first assumed the role in 2025.
As a globally recognized platform for link and QR code management, Bitly serves customers across more than 190 countries, ranging from small creators to major corporations, including more than half of the Fortune 500. With Bitly, businesses generate hundreds of millions of connections each month, facilitated by a robust platform that guarantees a remarkable uptime of 99.99% and a sophisticated Trust & Safety infrastructure. Just last year, Bitly’s system successfully blocked over one million malicious URLs, thereby protecting nearly one billion clicks from potential threats.
Peter Krivkovich emphasized the importance of reliable and scalable software solutions in today’s business environment, stating, "As demand for dependable link and QR code management continues to grow, investing in our platform's evolution is crucial. The acceleration of software development driven by AI offers a competitive advantage, but true progress lies in platforms that can maintain reliability while scaling. Matt’s extensive experience in crafting high-performing engineering teams will be instrumental in the ongoing evolution of our services."
Krivkovich himself has been pivotal in Bitly’s journey, having formerly worked as the CFO, where he played a vital role in scaling the business and establishing a strong operational foundation. Before joining Bitly, he co-founded NextRoll, transforming it into a leading performance marketing platform supporting thousands of global businesses.
As Bitly’s new CTO, Matt Young will take charge of the engineering and data teams, shaping the technical vision of the company and ensuring smooth platform scalability. Young brings over two decades of experience in leading engineering and product teams through phases of modernization, cloud transformation, and adopting cutting-edge technologies like AI. Prior to this, he served as the CEO of UserVoice, where he played a key role in steering the product’s direction and strategic growth, culminating in a successful acquisition. His prior experience also includes a position as CTO at Vodori.
In addition to Young's appointment, Bitly has announced several key promotions within its leadership team over the past year.
- - Kelly Zitzmann has stepped up as the Chief Legal and Administrative Officer, overseeing legal, people, and IT teams and ensuring global compliance and safety across the platform. She previously served as the General Counsel.

- - Shannon Jankun now serves as Vice President of Human Resources, managing talent, employee relations, and organizational development initiatives for Bitly’s global workforce.
