Midea Showcases Sustainable Innovations at IFA 2025, Upholding Low-Carbon Philosophy

Midea Showcases Sustainable Innovations at IFA 2025

In an impressive display at IFA 2025, Midea reiterated its call for a sustainable future through its guiding philosophy, "GREEN VISION, BLUE FUTURE." The company unveiled an extensive range of sustainable innovations and low-carbon energy technologies, reaffirming its dedication to environmental responsibility within the global HVAC sector.

Leading R290 Solutions for the Planet

A highlight of the exhibition was Midea's long-standing promotion of R290 solutions, which the company has championed for over 15 years. Since launching the world's first UN-supported demonstration production line for R290 in 2010, Midea has led the global adoption of this eco-friendly refrigerant. The company proudly operates 12 advanced R290 production lines with an impressive annual capacity of 6.4 million units. This commitment is backed by substantial real-world applications that showcase measurable reductions in carbon emissions worldwide.

Midea has played a pivotal role in setting international refrigerant standards, accelerating the usage of natural refrigerant R290 across the industry. With the support of over 10,000 research and development experts and 42 pilot laboratories, Midea offers a comprehensive portfolio of R290 products. One of the most exciting innovations to come out of Midea's European R&D team is the H-Pack hybrid indoor heat pump. Utilizing R290, this solution combines high energy efficiency with a compact design—no external unit necessary. Its hybrid function ensures perfect integration with gas boilers, providing reliable heating even in extreme cold conditions, reflecting Midea's promise for a greener future through innovative technology.

Excellence in Design and Performance with Raynor

Raynor, Midea's flagship low-temperature air-to-air heat pump, also took center stage at the exhibition. With an energy rating of A+++ and a seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of 5.1, one of the best in the industry, Raynor is recognized among the most efficient heat pumps available. Prototype testing has demonstrated its reliability in temperatures as low as -40 °C, maintaining a full heating capacity of 5.0 kW at -25 °C and achieving a maximum output of up to 8.0 kW.

Desigined for durability and efficiency, Raynor's advanced anti-freeze and anti-corrosion technologies are equipped with Prime Guard Hyper Grapfins, a specially-designed frame with a heating bottom plate, and long-lasting ceramic ball bearings with Flash Defrost capabilities. This combination of resilience, efficiency, and design innovation has already earned Raynor international accolades including the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. The highlight of the event came when Leif Lindner, CEO of IFA Management, presented the Excellent Heating Technology Innovation Gold Award to Vincent Chou, Midea's Vice President for Residential Air Conditioning, and Ralph Kobsik, General Manager of Midea Europe GmbH, further cementing the product's leadership in next-generation heating solutions.

Solstice: AI-Driven Comfort

Midea's Solstice air conditioner, powered by artificial intelligence, features a rotating 180° wind deflector that delicately balances airflow for unparalleled comfort. It ensures rapid heating and cooling tailored to daily needs. At its core, Solstice boasts Midea's latest AI engine, ECOMASTER, which has been trained on billions of data points. ECOMASTER predicts environmental changes and optimizes energy use with remarkable precision, enabling Solstice to maintain a precise comfort level within ±0.3 °C, while also reducing energy consumption by over 30%.

Midea announced a collaboration with Microsoft to provide natural voice control via AI, leveraging Microsoft Azure technology. This innovation would allow users to interact with their air conditioning units in any of the 145 supported languages using everyday language.

The presentation at IFA 2025 highlighted Midea's commitment to a sustainable lifestyle, integrating advanced engineering with market expertise to drive the transition towards a low-carbon economy. The company continues to offer energy-efficient solutions that effectively balance environmental responsibility with everyday comfort.
