Basel, Switzerland - November 6, 2025
Jungbunzlauer, a global leader in high-quality natural ingredient production, has announced the successful acquisition of its first manufacturing site in the United States, located in Thomson, Illinois. This strategic move signifies a commitment to enhancing service to North American customers and expanding production capabilities to meet rising market demands.

The acquisition was finalized from International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc. (IFF), marking a major milestone in Jungbunzlauer's growth trajectory. The facility in Illinois will be repurposed to support Jungbunzlauer's diverse portfolio of natural ingredients, including mineral salts, texturizers, and acidifiers, aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Pending installations and compliance with regulatory requirements are set to commence immediately, with the aim of ensuring the facility is equipped to produce high-quality products that meet customer needs across North America.

Bruno Tremblay, CEO of Jungbunzlauer, emphasized the significance of this acquisition, stating, "This marks an important step in our growth journey. Establishing our first U.S. production site in Thomson allows us to provide sustainable and reliable solutions to our customers. We are dedicated to investing in leading-edge manufacturing that offers long-term value to the region, our customers, and partners."

Commitment to the Community

Jungbunzlauer is keen to be an active partner within the Thomson community. By situating production locally, the company aims to create jobs, support local suppliers, and contribute to regional economic growth. This stance highlights their operational efficiency and responsible sourcing approach, reflecting a dedication to customer needs and community support.

David Schmit, the Regional Director of Economic Development for Northwestern Illinois, expressed optimism about the company's arrival. He remarked, “Jungbunzlauer’s reputation for responsible manufacturing and quality makes them an ideal partner for Illinois businesses. We are proud to welcome them to Thomson and look forward to supporting their growth, which will create new opportunities for our workforce and suppliers in the region.”

Future Updates

Furthermore, Jungbunzlauer has reassured stakeholders that the asset transfer does not include any business activities, product lines, or employees from IFF.

Tremblay concluded, “We are eager to provide updates regarding operational plans, future hiring, and community engagement initiatives as we prepare the facility for production.”
