Wynn Macau Celebrates Macao's Sino-Portuguese Heritage in Madrid's Roadshow

Wynn Macau Showcases Macao's Sino-Portuguese Heritage in Madrid

From April 17 to 21, 2026, the heart of Madrid came alive with the vibrant essence of Macao during the 'Experience Macao' roadshow, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Plaza Puente del Rey along the Manzanares River, this five-day event aimed to captivate and enthrall European travelers with a slice of Macao's cultural richness.

The showcase was divided into four main exhibition zones featuring 20 booths, each designed to offer visitors immersive experiences through an array of cultural performances, interactive food experiences, and light installations that depicted the unique spirit of Macao.

A highlight of the event was a stunning display of Jingdezhen porcelain, reimagined for the Madrid audience. Originally showcased at Wynn Macau, this exhibition served as a tangible connection to the historical exchange between China and Europe. Introducing 'Kraak porcelain'—a medium through which Portuguese merchants first brought Chinese artistry to Europe in the early 1600s—the installation bridged contemporary viewers with a storied past steeped in craftsmanship and culture.

Linda Chen, President of Wynn Macau, emphasized the importance of Macao as a cultural conduit: “Macao serves as a vital window for cross-cultural exchange, and we aim to present traditional Chinese culture to international audiences. We want visitors to see the beauty of our culture and feel inspired to explore both Macao and Jiangxi, promoting a 'one city, two destinations' travel concept.”

The roadshow was replete with engaging activities. Guests could participate in a Lion Dance, don traditional Chinese wedding attire for commemorative photos, or explore regional delicacies such as Xiushui's fried tofu and Nancheng's sweet potato noodles. A pop-up teahouse highlighted Macao's culinary delights, offering specialty dim sum and sugar painting demonstrations, while visitors with an interest in motorsport could experience the Guia Circuit through a simulation provided by the Macao Grand Prix Museum.

Interactive virtual reality installations allowed attendees to dive into nine different travel itineraries, showcasing the myriad attractions Macao has to offer.

“We aspire to tap into Macao's unique Sino-Western heritage—its historic architecture and intangible cultural traditions—to forge stronger connections with visitors in Spain and throughout Europe,” Chen further elaborated. The roadshow aimed not just to promote individual tourist campaigns but to build sustained interest in Macao as a cultural destination.

As a country celebrated for its rich food culture, Spain serves as a fitting backdrop for showcasing Macao's gastronomic prowess. The event highlighted luxury accommodations and Michelin-starred dining options available in Macao, enabling attendees to connect directly with the cultural tourism offerings of the region.

Wynn Macau reiterated its commitment to fostering deeper regional tourism ties within the Greater Bay Area through 'multi-destination itineraries'. Chen stated, “We will continue to strengthen cooperation between Hengqin and Macao to cultivate seamless travel experiences, shared visitor touchpoints, and integrated travel offerings.”

As the roadshow concluded, Wynn Macau reaffirmed its dedication to presenting the richness of Chinese culture to the global audience in engaging, accessible formats, ensuring that the allure of Macao transcends borders and invites travelers to explore its vibrant heritage.
