The Institute for Performance Excellence Launches National Assessment Center
The Institute for Performance Excellence has made a significant leap in organizational development with the introduction of the National Assessment Center. This centralized digital platform is designed to provide organizations across the United States and beyond with access to more than 350 customizable self-assessments, which are instrumental for businesses seeking to enhance their operational effectiveness.
Launched on August 18, 2026, the National Assessment Center integrates the 2026 Baldrige Excellence Framework® into a user-friendly self-assessment environment. This digitization is the culmination of efforts aimed at improving the accessibility and functionality of one of America’s premier frameworks for quality and excellence. By utilizing this platform, organizations can efficiently collect feedback from their teams, assess their organizational maturity, pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, and identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement.
According to Josh Racette, the President and CEO of the Baldrige Foundation, "The National Assessment Center provides organizations with a clearer path to comprehend where they stand, what improvements are necessary, and the actionable steps needed to achieve those improvements." He emphasized that the digital formatting of the Baldrige Excellence Framework represents a historic advancement, making the framework easier to access and implement in various organizational contexts.
The diverse application of the National Assessment Center caters to organizations of all sizes and sectors, including businesses, non-profits, educational institutions, health care providers, and government agencies. Furthermore, it aims to foster partnerships with performance excellence programs at the state and regional levels, ensuring that the tools offered are available to a broad audience. This initiative is anticipated to bolster organizational performance, enhance competitiveness, and maximize the positive impacts organizations have on their communities.
In addition to self-assessments, users of the National Assessment Center will gain access to valuable tools and resources, including educational content and a professional networking community curated by the Institute for Performance Excellence. The platform also extends partial scholarships for over 370 online self-paced training and certification courses, enabling organizations not only to identify performance gaps but also to build the skills and capabilities required to bridge those gaps effectively.
The development of the National Assessment Center was made possible through collaboration with Vessel, a veteran-owned technology company that specializes in creating intelligent platforms. This partnership has led to the creation of interactive reports, executive summaries, and visual dashboards, along with AI-supported recommendations tailored for organizations. Moreover, it incorporates structured improvement plans that span 30, 60, 90, and 120 days to facilitate ongoing development.
Derik Ellis, Founder and CEO of Vessel, stated, "Our goal is to transform self-assessment into timely organizational intelligence." He believes that the National Assessment Center offers leaders and partnering organizations a practical avenue for aligning resources and accelerating improvement initiatives.
