Experience the Unique Sauna Culture of Shinshu Through Ginza NAGANO's Special Event

Experience the Unique Sauna Culture of Shinshu

On March 20, 2026, Ginza NAGANO, an information hub connecting the Tokyo metropolitan area with Nagano Prefecture, will host a special hands-on event titled 'Shinshu Sauna Adventure.' This event is designed specifically for sauna enthusiasts from the capital region.

The sauna market is entering its 'second chapter' of evolution. Due to an increase in the desire for private and secluded spaces away from urban crowds, various sauna styles are rapidly developing, including private rooms, outdoor units, and those focused on the 'Löyly' (Finnish sauna steam). As we approach 2026, the sauna industry's demands are shifting towards higher quality sauna rooms and enhanced outdoor experiences. Users are more likely to seek tailored sauna experiences that perfectly meet their preferences. Furthermore, curiosity about region-specific sauna experiences is rising, with outdoor saunas that integrate with nature gaining nationwide popularity.

In this context, 'Shinshu Sauna Adventure' aims to immerse participants in Nagano's natural beauty and sauna culture. The event features expert sauna masters from Nagano Prefecture and members of the Shinshu Sauna Alliance, who will introduce the unique sauna travel style that Shinshu has to offer, where nature meets saunas.

Event Highlights

A Comprehensive Introduction to Shinshu's Sauna Culture

Participants will learn about:
  • - Hot spring facilities that utilize Nagano's natural environment
  • - Mountainous locations ideal for outdoor showers
  • - The latest outdoor saunas and barrel saunas
Experts including sauna instructors and facility operators will shed light on the captivating elements that enrich this 'sauna journey.'

Display of Tent Saunas & Aromatherapy Experience

In addition to showcasing traditional Finnish tent saunas, guests can engage in an aromatherapy experience that captures the essence of 'Shinshu's forests.'
Please note that the sauna stoves will not be heated, so participants will not experience warm saunas during this portion.

A Gathering to Share Sauna Enthusiasm

Attendees will have the chance to converse over 'sauna meals,' engaging with one another and the invited guests. The event allows for discussions with all guests across four sets (15 minutes each), diving deep into the world of sauna conversation.

Exciting 'Sauna Meals'

After the sauna activities, participants can enjoy a scrumptious selection of Shinshu’s unique culinary offerings, including the innovative 'sa-man' (similar to savory buns), craft cola, birch tea, and yogurt drinks made from favorite local ingredients.

Showcase of Sauna Goods

An exhibition will present sauna goods from the Shinshu-based apparel brand “TOTONOW” and the Shinshu Sauna Alliance, allowing attendees to purchase their favorites online.

Chance to Win Shinshu Bathing Coupons

Ten lucky participants will win a digital coupon called 'Shinshu Monomi Onsen Hand,' which allows access to 12 bathing facilities across the prefecture.
