Zoomlion Unveils World's Highest 82.3-Meter Telescopic Boom Lift at Scientific Innovation Conference

At the seventh Scientific and Technological Innovation Conference organized by Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., the ZT82J telescopic boom lift made headlines by being named the Outstanding Flagship Product. Standing at an impressive height of 82.3 meters, this model is now recognized as the tallest in its class worldwide. Designed to meet the increasing demand for aerial work equipment exceeding 80 meters, it is built to comply with rigorous safety standards suitable for large infrastructure projects globally.

The journey to develop the ZT82J incorporates the relentless efforts of the product manager He Jipeng and his dedicated team from the Aerial Work Platform R&D center. The project has progressed from initial design through to mass production, effectively managing testing and interdepartmental coordination.

From the onset, the team faced the tough challenge of balancing two conflicting requirements: overall dimensions and total weight. This involved complex considerations of an ultra-fast lightweight boom structure, a box-type turret, and a high-capacity chassis, all aimed at reducing weight while significantly enhancing the structural rigidity. This ensures resistance to bending and twisting during operation at the extraordinary height of 82.3 meters, while minimizing platform sway.

Without any existing models or established benchmarks within the industry, the team confronted various bottlenecks, including limited space, excessive weight, and inadequate rigidity. The quest for weight reduction balanced with dimensional constraints and structural rigidity demanded an optimal equilibrium that was challenging to achieve. After conducting over ten series of simulations, the team developed an exclusive multi-edged cross-section for the boom and evaluated various telescopic configurations to optimize the overall structure.

The aim was to ensure vertical and lateral rigidity while creatively navigating between weight reduction goals and structural capacity within established limits. Building on the lightweight boom, He Jipeng and his team also integrated turret optimization and chassis development. Simulation processes helped pinpoint weaknesses in stress points and enabled the precise optimization of cross-sections, allowing for reductions in excess steel usage while maintaining safety margins. This light upgrade significantly enhances fatigue and overturning resistance and leads to a structural breakthrough in high-reaching work equipment.

In support of the project, Zoomlion assembled a task force of experts specializing in structural, hydraulic, and electronic controls, alongside a simulation team. This combination utilizes specialized testing facilities and ensures seamless coordination from the design phase through to production.

"This award recognizes our team's advancements in developing high-reach aerial work platforms and showcases the capabilities of Zoomlion’s premier construction equipment," stated He Jipeng. “It has also greatly bolstered our confidence to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation and overcoming technical challenges."

By achieving such a significant milestone, Zoomlion not only reaffirms its commitment to engineering excellence but also sets a new standard for the aerial work industry. Their continued innovation exemplifies how dedication and visionary thinking can lead to groundbreaking advancements in heavy machinery and equipment. As projects become increasingly complex, the ZT82J will likely play a crucial role in shaping the future of aerial lifts, serving a wide spectrum of industries from construction to maintenance and beyond.
