Zoomlion Celebrates 34 Years of Innovation and Global Growth Milestones
Celebrating 34 Years of Excellence: Zoomlion's Journey
On September 28, 2026, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. proudly celebrated its 34th anniversary, an occasion marked by grand celebrations across its global operations. The motto for this year’s event, “Youth in Bloom, Horizons Beyond,” encapsulated the company’s forward-looking vision as it commemorated its rich heritage and substantial progress.
The main festivities took place at the Zoomlion Intelligent Industrial City in Changsha, attended by executives and employees from various regions. Employees from 22 nations offered their congratulatory messages in their native languages, emphasizing the company's diverse workforce and global reach. Additionally, local activities were held at industrial parks, overseas business centers, and regional headquarters, bringing unity and joy to the celebration.
A Remarkable Journey
Founded in 1992 by Zhan Chunxin and his seven colleagues, Zoomlion began its journey focusing on engineering research and the commercialization of construction machinery products. The launch of the HBT40A concrete pump marked a significant milestone as the company introduced its first independently developed product, breaking the hold of imported equipment in the concrete pump market. This early success laid the groundwork for a comprehensive product portfolio.
By 1994, Zoomlion had diversified its offerings to include 78 models, encompassing concrete machinery, construction cranes, and sanitation equipment, achieving an annual production value of 120 million RMB by 1996. This rapid expansion facilitated the company’s leap from a singular product focus to a broader range of machinery manufacturing.
From 2000 to 2010, Zoomlion made a notable entrance into capital markets, launching A-shares on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2000 and H-shares on the Hong Kong Exchange in 2010. These strategic moves not only cemented its status as the first company in its field to simultaneously list both A and H shares but also spurred further growth, allowing the company to broaden its product and service array.
In the years following 2002, Zoomlion strategically expanded into new business lines through acquisitions and internal development. The company ventured into foundation machinery, aerial work platforms, and mining equipment, enhancing its technological capabilities in key components such as control systems and hydraulics.
To support its growing and diverse operations, Zoomlion implemented a divisional structure in 2006, ensuring effective management as it grew larger. By 2008, the company's annual revenue exceeded 10 billion RMB, showcasing its successful growth trajectory.
A Unified Brand Identity
As Zoomlion continued to broaden its reach into new sectors, the previously distinct brand names of its various operations were unified under the single, coherent Zoomlion brand. This move not only streamlined branding but also strengthened the company's identity in both domestic and international markets.
International expansion accelerated in 2008 with the acquisition of the Italian concrete machinery manufacturer CIFA, followed by the establishment of R&D centers, production facilities, and a parts supply network across various markets outside China. Zoomlion invested heavily in local sales, service, and parts support in important international markets, moving beyond mere product exports.
Today, Zoomlion's operations encompass construction, mining, and agricultural machinery, with 11 R&D centers and manufacturing plants established globally. The company's products and services now reach over 170 countries and regions, with international revenues accounting for nearly 60% of its total sales. In key markets, zoomlion leverages local manufacturing combined with sales support and technical assistance to meet customer needs more effectively.
Looking Ahead
As Zoomlion embarks on its 35th year, the company is set to continue its proactive approach towards diversification, globalization, and digitalization. There is a substantial focus on high-end equipment, smart technologies, and sustainability, with ongoing investments in AI, robotics, and new energy technologies across all product lines. These initiatives will facilitate enhanced product development and enable Zoomlion to address the demands of customers in key global markets more effectively.
Overall, Zoomlion’s 34-year legacy is not just a celebration of its achievements but a glimpse into its promising future as it continues to flourish in the heavy machinery sector and beyond.
