New Restaurant 'Nén Tokyo' to Celebrate Vietnamese Culture in Daikanyama

'Nén Tokyo' - A New Culinary Experience in Daikanyama

On September 2, 2025, a new landmark in Vietnamese dining, 'Nén Tokyo', is set to open its doors in the trendy Daikanyama district of Tokyo. This restaurant signifies the first international expansion of 'Nén', a modern Vietnamese restaurant that made its debut in Da Nang, Vietnam, in 2017. It is operated by Nen Global Co., Ltd., led by Tạ Việt Phong, who aims to introduce the essence of Vietnamese culture through innovative culinary experiences.

Nén Tokyo embraces the philosophy of being “Consciously Vietnamese,” sourcing around 99% of its ingredients locally from Vietnam. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its 'Sto:ry Menu', which tells a story through each dish. The course meals emphasize not just flavors but an unforgettable sensory experience, allowing diners to immerse themselves in the rich narratives of Vietnamese nature, culture, and life. This commitment to sustainability and gastronomy has earned Nén accolades, including the prestigious Michelin Green Star in 2024, marking it as a trailblazer in the field of sustainable dining.

The Daikanyama location aims to bridge the essence of Vietnamese traditions with the cosmopolitan context of Tokyo. The menu will showcase dishes inspired by Vietnam's diverse landscapes and cultures, featuring progressive interpretations that invite guests to engage with the stories behind their meals. Each dish serves as a vessel of cultural expression, enhancing the dining experience and making every visit not just a meal, but an exploration of Vietnam in a Tokyo setting.

With Summer Le, the chef and founder, at the helm, Nén Tokyo is poised to resonate with both Japanese and international diners. Chef Summer is a prominent figure in the culinary scene, having begun her journey through a cooking blog focused on sharing the beauty of Vietnamese cuisine with the world. She opened Nén in Da Nang to critical acclaim and later launched 'Nén Light' in Ho Chi Minh City, another Michelin-selected restaurant that continues to embody the ethos of her brand.

Summer Le's culinary philosophy was influenced by her studies in Japan, particularly at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, which deepened her appreciation for aesthetics and culinary practices. This fusion of Vietnamese authenticity with Japanese influences is evident in her dishes at Nén Tokyo, ensuring a unique gastronomic journey.
