Wang Feng of Linglong Tire Promotes Ecological Practices at COP30

On November 10, during the side event titled "Ecological Civilization and Beautiful China Practices" at the COP30 in Belém, Brazil, Wang Feng, the chairman of Linglong Tire, addressed an audience about the company's significant efforts towards ecological civilization. Representing the transformation in China's industrial landscape, Wang emphasized Linglong Tire's commitment to carbon neutrality, aiming to peak its carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2050. This ambition is notably a decade ahead of the global timeline established by the Paris Agreement.

Linglong Tire has developed a comprehensive plan to reach carbon neutrality, focusing on reducing emissions through several strategic areas: improving energy efficiency, initiating research and development of sustainable tires, and enhancing supply chain management. The company's goal is to reduce carbon emissions by 52.07% by 2035, with an eye toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Wang Feng pointed out that Linglong is engaging in a green transformation guided by five essential dimensions—new materials, innovative technologies, enhanced processes, advanced equipment, and renewable energy sources. Noteworthy among the innovations is Linglong's launch of the world's first tire made of 79% sustainable materials, designed to meet the highest EU performance standards. The company plans to increase this proportion to 85% by 2028, with a long-term vision of achieving 100% sustainable materials by 2040. Innovations such as utilizing bio-based materials—like silica made from rice husk ash and bio-based isocyanate rubber—represent a significant shift away from conventional petroleum-derived resources, potentially reducing carbon emissions by up to 35%.

Moreover, in terms of technology, Linglong's new energy tire, the SPORT MASTER e, incorporates award-winning core technologies like BPT Steady-State Pressure for optimizing ground pressure distribution. Wang emphasized that Linglong's dual-carbon roadmap not only signifies its commitment to environmental protection but also amounts to a revolutionary advancement in production efficiency and value creation.

As the first tire manufacturer on the Chinese mainland to join the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), Linglong Tire actively promotes transparency and compliance throughout its supply chain. By implementing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified projects for sustainable natural rubber, the company is extending its environmental accountability to raw material phases, ensuring responsible management from forest to finished tire.

Linglong is also involved in resource recycling, operating workshops dedicated to reclaimed rubber and advocating for the use of liquid reclaimed rubber and pyrolysis carbon black. This initiative addresses the environmental impact of waste tires and promotes a closed-loop resource cycle. Wang stressed the necessity of continuous innovation to provide high-quality, eco-friendly tire solutions to users globally.

With this roadmap, Linglong not only showcases its commitment to sustainable practices but also positions itself as a leading force in the green transformation of the tire industry. Wang Feng concluded by expressing the company's readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders to bring practical solutions for a cleaner and beautiful world.
