Zevero's Initiative to Support Decarbonization in Tokyo

Zevero, a leading global startup based in the Minato area of Tokyo, has been officially selected for the exciting "R7 Interactive Startup Collaborative Project" led by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. This project aims to address critical themes related to environmental sustainability, with Zevero focusing on the important task of visualizing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in municipal facilities across the city.

Background of the Tokyo Initiative

As part of its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has set an ambitious goal: to reduce GHG emissions by 50% compared to the year 2000 by 2030, an initiative referred to as “Carbon Half.” The current project aims to equip staff managing municipal facilities with a robust data infrastructure. This will enable them to actively engage in discussions and efforts to reduce emissions, employing both top-down and bottom-up approaches for a comprehensive reduction strategy.

Zevero's Role in the Project

In this endeavor, Zevero will leverage its extensive experience from numerous domestic and international projects to create a system that allows for emission visualization and comparative analysis. Previously, it was a daunting task due to the sheer volume and complexity of the data involved, making it difficult for facility managers to grasp their facility's conditions or perform inter-facility comparisons and reduction simulations. However, thanks to Zevero’s advanced platform and the support of its experts, these tasks will now be achievable.

Comment from Zevero CEO, Takashi Yanai

In a statement, Zevero’s CEO, Takashi Yanai, expressed his enthusiasm about partnering with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government: "We are truly honored to collaborate on this project aimed at making Tokyo the best city in the world. Visualizing and utilizing emissions data across 4,000 municipal facilities is a challenging yet incredibly significant undertaking. We are committed to leveraging our expertise and technology to contribute to a decarbonized society while enhancing Tokyo's reputation as an environmentally advanced city."
