NHP Foundation Welcomes Joseph Weatherly as Chief Investment Officer



On October 6, 2025, the NHP Foundation, a leading nationwide nonprofit organization focused on affordable housing preservation and development, announced the appointment of Joseph P. Weatherly as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO). This strategic move aims to enhance the organization's leadership and further its growth in the affordable housing sector.

Joseph Weatherly enters this pivotal role boasting over 23 years of rich experience in multifamily housing acquisition, finance, and development across the United States. His expertise spans areas of affordable, workforce, and mixed-income housing, making him a remarkable asset to NHPF. As CIO, Weatherly will be responsible for overseeing NHPF's investment strategy and capital deployment across its extensive national portfolio. He will lead the investment team to pinpoint opportunities that are in alignment with NHPF’s mission and its long-term financial strength.

Weatherly’s Impressive Background


Prior to this appointment, Weatherly served as Senior Vice President at McCormack Baron Salazar and held the title of Chief Development Officer at McCormack Baron Residential. In those roles, he successfully pursued and secured development rights for over 11,000 housing units nationwide. He has built and led national business development and workforce housing teams, showcasing his ability to create impactful partnerships and implement effective strategies in complex housing projects.

Joseph has also held significant positions at The Michaels Organization, PIRHL Developers, AHC Inc., and Meridian Investments, and began his career in finance at the renowned Morgan Stanley. His impressive track record in the housing industry has earned him numerous accolades, including being named among the 'Top 40 Under 40 Housing Professionals' by the Virginia Housing Coalition. Additionally, Weatherly was honored with the Charles Edson Award for Tax Credit Excellence.
