Cisco and R.Power Join Forces for Renewable Energy in Europe

In a significant step toward enhancing renewable energy access in Europe, Cisco Systems, Inc. has entered into a long-term Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with R.Power S.A., one of Poland’s foremost solar energy developers. This partnership, facilitated by Sustainability Roundtable, Inc’s Net Zero Consortium for Buyers (NZCB), aims to support the development of four innovative solar projects across Poland, amounting to a total contracted capacity of 470 GWh. The four selected sites for these projects include Wydartowo, Bieżyce, Ostrzeniewo III, and Nowy Zagór III.

The VPPA, which spans a 15-year period and targets a Commercial Operation Date (COD) of 2027, signifies a pivotal moment in the expansion of renewable energy generation in Europe. This initiative aligns with Cisco’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and the organization’s efforts to assist in transforming a carbon-intensive electrical grid prevalent in Poland. Jim Boyle, CEO of SR Inc, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, "Cisco's leadership reflects the growing role of global enterprises in catalyzing regional renewable energy development."

In addition, Evan Scott Brown, Manager of Renewable Energy Utilities at Cisco, commented on the company’s pride in contributing to the growth of renewable energy across the continent. Brown remarked that this strategic agreement not only aligns with Cisco's commitment to building a resilient future powered by clean energy but also satisfies operational needs, including ongoing expansions of its lab facilities in Krakow.
