GAC Group Reports Strong Vehicle Sales and International Growth in the First Half of 2026

In an impressive showing of strength and expansion, GAC Group, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Guangzhou, China, has announced that its total vehicle sales for the first half of 2026 reached 773,100 units. This figure marks a 2.35% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, the growth has been primarily driven by the rising demand for energy-saving and new energy vehicles, which constituted a remarkable 62.82% of total sales.

Accelerated Growth through Strategic Initiatives

A significant contributor to this milestone has been GAC's ambitious "Panyu Action" plan, which has spurred sales of the company’s self-owned brands to accelerate to 346,000 units—an impressive year-on-year increase of 35.69%. As production continues, GAC's cumulative production is set to surpass the significant benchmark of 30 million units by July, underscoring the brand's commitment to scaling its operations.

Rapid International Expansion

Overseas markets have emerged as one of GAC's fastest-growing segments. In the first half of 2026, self-brand exports skyrocketed to 121,500 units, demonstrating a staggering 132% surge compared to the previous year. This concentrated growth across various international markets highlights GAC’s strategic efforts in global expansion, positioning itself favorably in competitive regions.

GAC's concentrated international sales efforts have yielded impressive results across five major areas: the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. In Mexico, GAC's AION UT and AION ES made significant impacts in the B-segment and C-segment electric market domains, ranking among the top three models. Furthermore, in Bolivia, the GAC S7 and AION UT were distinguished as the best-selling plug-in hybrid and pure electric models of the year, cementing GAC's status as a leading brand in the local market among Chinese passenger vehicles for consecutive months.

Exceptional Sales Achievements

The month of June was especially fruitful for GAC, with impressive figures coming out of multiple Latin American countries. Sales in Brazil soared by an astonishing 1,129% and in Colombia by 804% month-on-month. Uruguay, too, saw a 254% increase year-on-year in June, showcasing GAC's strong foothold in these rapidly growing markets.

In Asia-Pacific, GAC has also seen a substantial increase in market share. The company's electric vehicle market share in Hong Kong SAR surpassed 11% from January to May. Thailand showcased a month-on-month sales increase of 207% in June, and Singapore followed suit with sales growth of 77%.

In the Middle East and Africa, GAC reported a staggering 282% rise in regional sales early in the year. Notably, the EMZOOM model topped the B-segment SUV market in Lebanon in May, while Ethiopian sales showed unprecedented growth, surging by 510% month-on-month in June.

European Expansion and Local Production

In Europe, GAC has taken substantial strides forward, establishing a comprehensive operational framework from local production facilities to retail outlets. The company has expanded into Italy, the UK, and Spain, acquiring the honor of being the second-largest Chinese EV brand in Greece as of June. The AION UT has now commenced production at its Austrian KD plant, allowing GAC to augment its operations and meet growing demand within the European market.

Looking Ahead

As GAC Group looks to the second half of 2026, the company is poised to leverage its strengthened product offerings and operational capabilities to deliver exceptional mobility solutions that exceed customer expectations. The organization's commitment to sustainability, innovation, and expansion bodes well for its trajectory in the evolving automotive landscape.
