energyRe's Commitment to Community Support
In a commendable move that highlights its dedication to community welfare, energyRe, a prominent player in the energy sector, has announced a significant donation of
$25,000 to the
House of Hope of the Pee Dee. This organization, established in
1990, has been pivotal in offering shelter, meals, and vital services to individuals and families facing challenges such as
homelessness and
addiction in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina.
Strengthening Community Ties
The donation comes as energyRe enhances its commitment to supporting local organizations that profoundly impact community lives. With its headquarters in Florence and a newly established location in Darlington County, House of Hope has reportedly provided over
45,000 nights of shelter and nearly
100,000 meals to those in need. Beyond immediate relief, the organization also focuses on education, training initiatives, and long-term transitional housing, offering long-term solutions for recovery and stability.
"Partnerships like this help us continue serving men, women, and children in crisis with shelter, meals, recovery support, and hope for what comes next," said
Jon Weiss Jr., the Chief Executive Officer of House of Hope. Weiss emphasized the importance of community support in sustaining their programs and operations, noting that this donation would significantly enhance their capacity to assist those in need.
A Commitment to Health and Wellness
Patrick Moore, the Development and Community Partnerships Manager at energyRe, expressed pride in supporting such important work. He commented, "House of Hope is doing deeply important work for individuals and families across the Pee Dee, and energyRe is proud to support an organization that provides both immediate and long-term support." This illustrates energyRe's philosophy of meeting people with compassion and dignity, particularly at times of crisis.
Evening of Hope Fundraiser
In addition to the financial contribution, energyRe also sponsored House of Hope's annual
Evening of Hope fundraiser, which took place on
March 9, 2026, at the Florence Center. This event featured inspirational speaker
Bethany Hamilton and musical performer
Megan Woods, gathering community members in support of House of Hope's ongoing initiatives. The event not only raised monetary support but also raised awareness about the plight of those experiencing homelessness and the need for continued community intervention.
The Impact of Support
House of Hope's services are vital for individuals and families facing hardships, as the organization accommodates up to
120 people nightly. The funding provided by energyRe will directly assist in sustaining programs that promote recovery and stability for these individuals. By collaborating with community partners, House of Hope can continue delivering its needed services to those experiencing dire situations.
