Eve Air Mobility Takes Major Steps in Eve 100 Certification Journey Across Global Markets

Eve Air Mobility is making significant strides in its certification process for the Eve 100, a pioneering electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Recently, the Brazilian aviation authority, National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), initiated a consultation with industry stakeholders regarding updates to the airworthiness criteria for such aircraft. This is a critical step as it aligns with Eve's application to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) aimed at validating their Type Certificate in Europe.

The dual advancements underscore Eve's broad certification strategy and demonstrate its commitment to collaborating with aviation regulatory bodies from Brazil, the United States, and Europe. With Brazil opening discussions on updated criteria which mirror international standards, this sets a pivotal foundation for the Eve 100’s Type Certification process. Notably, revisions have been made to harmonize the standards with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)'s guidance for powered-lift aircraft, reflecting a global trend in aviation regulation.

Eve's CEO, Johann Bordais, highlighted the importance of these developments, marking the close working relationship the company has fostered with ANAC and other aviation authorities. Bordais stated, "We value the close technical collaboration with ANAC and the engagement with leading aviation authorities as we advance a comprehensive certification approach for new aircraft technologies."

Historically, Eve formalized the application process for the eVTOL Type Certificate with ANAC back in February 2022, thus kicking off the aircraft's certification journey within the Brazilian civil aviation sector. In a move to ensure alignment among regulatory authorities, Eve has also engaged with the FAA for a concurrent Type Certificate validation process. The application to EASA for validation marks yet another notable achievement, integrating a key European aviation authority into their ongoing certification effort.

Tiago Faierstein, ANAC’s Director-President, emphasized the strategic importance of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) for Brazil, asserting the nation’s potential role in developing safe and standardized certification processes globally. Faierstein stated that Brazil is committed to establishing the necessary infrastructure and regulations to accommodate this innovation within the civil aviation framework, asserting confidence that eVTOLs will be a lasting aspect of aviation.

After the consultation period, which will remain open until August 18, ANAC will review feedback and consider any necessary adjustments to the criteria. Eve will continue to work closely with ANAC on the certification process of the Eve 100 and simultaneously ensure alignment with other aviation authorities like the FAA and EASA as part of its comprehensive international strategy.

Looking ahead, the initial product familiarization and technical discussions with EASA are next in line. The ongoing efforts showcase Eve Air Mobility's commitment not only to innovative aircraft technology but also to achieving compliance with rigorous safety standards, thus ensuring the Eve 100 is set for successful operations in multiple global markets.

As Eve continues its journey towards certification, it remains crucial to highlight the innovative and sustainable approach they bring to Urban Air Mobility. With a blend of advanced technology and regulatory alignment, Eve is paving the way for a new era of aerial transport that promises efficiency and environmental responsibility.

For more details on the proposed airworthiness criteria and how to participate in the consultation, interested parties are encouraged to visit the respective regulatory websites. Eve’s ongoing commitment helps solidify its foundation in the rapidly evolving landscape of air mobility, promising exciting developments in the realm of aerial transport in the near future.
