Danone’s Guilt-Free Dessert Yogurt Series
On February 2, 2026, Danone Japan introduces a new flavor to its popular "Danone Adult's Smart Dessert Yogurt" series—Cheese Fromage & Honey. This innovative dessert yogurt will be available in convenience stores nationwide, expanding to supermarkets starting February 9, 2026.
This series of yogurt was created to respond to consumer demands for a tasty yet low-calorie dessert option—specifically targeting those who want to indulge in sweets without the subsequent guilt. Each cup contains only 100kcal, striking a perfect balance between taste and health. The concept behind this product line is to offer a "smart reward" for adults who love sweets but are conscious of their calorie intake.
The new Cheese Fromage & Honey flavor represents a unique combination in the yogurt market, which has seen a significant rise in honey yogurt products, projected to grow 1.6 times between 2023 and 2025. However, the fusion of cheese and honey in yogurt has remained relatively unexplored. To craft this new flavor, Danone’s development team meticulously selected cheese flavors that harmonize well with yogurt, producing dozens of prototypes. The resulting creamy yogurt captures the milky essence of cheese combined with the natural sweetness of honey, offering a delightful eating experience without compromising on calories.
Additionally, the Chocolate Fondue flavor—debuted in November 2025 and well-received by consumers—will also officially roll out to all supermarkets across Japan starting February 9, 2026. This flavor is particularly noteworthy as it combines the indulgence of chocolate with the health-centric benefits of yogurt, appealing to a broad demographic.
Mukai Tomoka, the representative director of Yognet, shared insights into the rising trend of dessert yogurts in Japan: "Yogurt has been a popular item in Japan for about 80 years, primarily appealing to older demographics. However, there is considerable growth potential in attracting younger consumers. The yogurt market is increasingly catering to the individual needs of each consumer. Dessert yogurts like those from Danone, which cater to a sweet tooth while being health-conscious, are becoming more accessible for a wider range of ages, including younger ones."
Tomoka further notes, "The introduction of the Chocolate Fondue flavor garnered significant attention due to the unusual pairing of chocolate with yogurt. The new Cheese Fromage & Honey flavor, meanwhile, represents an exciting addition to the yogurt category that hasn’t been widely explored. I believe it presents an opportunity for those who have not consciously incorporated yogurt into their diets to enjoy a relaxing and indulgent treat."
