Laox Akihabara's Trading Card Mall Expands to Meet Increasing Demand

Expansion of the Trading Card Mall

Laox Akihabara's Trading Card Mall, known as "Toreka Mall," is set to undergo expansion starting July 2026, following the overwhelming success and impressive sales figures of the existing trading card sections within the building. The decision was made by Palette Group, based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, which manages this specialized retail space.

Since its opening, the Toreka Mall has garnered immense support from trading card enthusiasts and collectors. The monthly sales have surged past 700 million yen, attracting a diverse range of customers, from local trading card fans to international tourists drawn by Japan's anime and hobby culture. The vibrant atmosphere in the mall is always filled with excitement and smiles, making it a go-to destination for card lovers.

Reasons Behind the Expansion

The expansion aims to address the substantial increase in both foot traffic and sales, capitalizing on the growing trading card market in Akihabara. This decision underscores the need for a venue that can provide a rich variety of customer experiences.

Currently, the Toreka Mall spans two floors (B1F and 5F) and is designed as an "entertainment mall" centered around trading card retail, evaluations, and events. This unique operational model has continuously attracted an increasing number of visitors from both Japan and abroad, affirming its popularity in the hobbyist community.

Given the current trends and steady demand, additional spaces within the building have been identified for use in expanding the mall, which will enhance its offerings further. This expansion will create an opportunity for more trading card businesses to set up shop while solidifying the mall's status as a premier destination for trading card experiences in Akihabara.

Three Key Features of Toreka Mall

1. Spacious Environment: With the expansion, the total area of the mall will grow significantly, increasing from about 80 sqm on the 5th floor to an enlarged space of approximately 110 sqm. This will create an impressive total of around 190 sqm, making it one of the largest trading card malls, catering to enthusiasts across Japan.

2. Integration of Trading Cards and Gaming: The new addition of "HAO Akihabara" will bring together prominent card shops along with an arcade section focused on crane games. This fusion is expected to attract both devoted trading card fans and casual visitors, enhancing the overall shopping experience.

3. Experience-Focused Management: Toreka Mall is committed to going beyond typical sales and purchases by offering an experiential shopping ambiance. This strategy aims to attract both trading card and gaming fans, facilitating a space where they can engage and play, ultimately establishing itself as a new landmark in Akihabara.

Call for New Tenants

The Toreka Mall is actively seeking new tenants, opening its doors to not only trading card retail companies but also to individual entrepreneurs considering entering this thriving market. The mall provides an attractive venue in one of Japan's largest hobby districts, ensuring a favorable environment for business growth.
