HoneyNaps Chosen for 2026 Eurostars Project to Innovate Neurological Monitoring

HoneyNaps Selected for 2026 Eurostars International R&D Project

HoneyNaps, a South Korean company specializing in sleep medicine through artificial intelligence, has been selected to participate in the prestigious Eurostars international R&D project for 2026. This project is supported by the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT).

The Eurostars project is a multilateral R&D funding initiative managed by the Eureka Network and co-funded by the European Union. The current project, titled "Development of a Spectroscopic Electromagnetic Sensing and Artificial Intelligence Platform for Non-Invasive Neurological Monitoring," aims to merge the expertise of various esteemed institutions.

The consortium comprises HoneyNaps, Yonsei University, Dankook University, Uppsala University from Sweden, and Xantage AB. Together, these organizations will work to establish a comprehensive, non-invasive platform capable of continuously monitoring changes in intracranial pressure (ICP) and analyzing sleep signals. This innovative health technology is expected to revolutionize the field of sleep medicine by ensuring more convenient, real-time monitoring for patients.

The Project Overview

The project's primary focus is on developing an integrated platform that adheres to Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL 6). This will involve utilizing a compact chip-scale vector network analyzer (VNA) in conjunction with SansEC microwave resonant sensors, physics-informed AI, and wireless polysomnography (PSG) signal analysis. The goal is to create a system that can automatically estimate ICP fluctuations while also effectively analyzing sleep stages and related events.

HoneyNaps plans to harness the wireless capabilities of the technology to collect and evaluate various biometric signals, including electroencephalogram (EEG), electrooculogram (EOG), electromyogram (EMG), electrocardiogram (ECG), oxygen saturation (SpO₂), and respiratory signals. By blending the clinical insights gained from laboratory-based polysomnography with the convenience of at-home testing, the project aims to facilitate automated analysis that is user-friendly for patients.

Insights from Leadership

Sean Ha, the President of HoneyNaps USA, expressed enthusiasm regarding this initiative. He stated, "By combining electromagnetic sensing with sleep biosignal analysis, this project will evaluate the potential of non-invasive neurological monitoring. Together with our partners in South Korea and Sweden, we will validate the sensors, AI, and platform in stages and build a foundation for clinical use and global market entry."

The collaboration reflects a holistic approach towards advancing healthcare practices worldwide by integrating cutting-edge technology and research from both South Korea and Sweden into one coherent platform.

In conclusion, as HoneyNaps embarks on this groundbreaking research and development project, it sets a significant precedent for future innovations in the field of sleep medicine. The global collaboration promises to enhance and streamline the processes involved in neurological health monitoring, ultimately contributing positively to patient care and outcomes.
