North Shore Animal League America's Rescue Gala Celebrates Animal Rescue and Community Spirit

Shining a Spotlight on Animal Rescue at the Gala

The annual Rescue Gala organized by North Shore Animal League America took place on June 12 at the prestigious Plaza Hotel in New York City. This celebrated event, which passionately promotes animal rescue and adoption, drew a diverse crowd from the animal-loving community, with many attendees being proud adopters from the organization itself.

Event Chairperson Beth Stern, renowned for her dedication to animal welfare, and Will Ganss, a multi-Emmy Award-winning host, took center stage. The ballroom buzzed with excitement as Stern shared insights from her children's book, “Coco and Stephen Together Forever,” while Ganss infused warmth and humor throughout the evening.

Attendees were treated to moving accounts highlighting the incredible dedication of the Animal League America staff and volunteers, who tirelessly work to ensure that every animal in their care has the chance to be adopted into loving homes. The evening featured poignant stories of rescue, recovery, and the ongoing challenges faced by the organization, underscoring the vital need for continued support.

Adding to the gala's charm was a musical performance by Singer/Songwriter Joshua Radin, who captured hearts with his new song, “Tomorrow's Gonna Be Better.” His heartfelt performance accompanied a captivating backdrop of videos showcasing animals available for adoption from the organization, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees. Later, DJ Jon Blak set the tone for a lively celebration as guests filled the dance floor.

The Crystal Collar Award was one of the night’s highlights, presented to Jeff Schick for his unwavering commitment to the mission of Animal League America. This award recognized his significant role in ensuring that countless animals found loving homes. Meanwhile, the Mutt-i-grees Crystal Collar Award was given to Abraham Lincoln High School for their long-term dedication to incorporating the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum, which emphasizes responsibility towards pets and encourages fundraising efforts to help homeless animals. This school was notable for being one of the first to adopt a dog from the Animal League, setting an example of respect and love for animals in their daily practices.

The gala also saw many renowned personalities walking the blue carpet, cradling adoptable puppies and showing their support. Notable attendees included Liz Gillies, Elias Weiss Friedman (The Dogist), and various other public figures from comedy and fashion. Their participation not only illuminated the event but also highlighted the importance of community engagement in promoting animal welfare.

The event was made possible with the generous contributions from sponsors such as Fetch Pet Insurance, MWI Animal Health, and LifeProof. These partnerships, alongside many in-kind donations, are crucial in supporting the life-saving mission of the North Shore Animal League America.
