Blockchain for Good Alliance Leads Global Digital Collaboration at UN IGF 2025
The
Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA), a flagship non-profit established by
Bybit, made headlines at the
20th anniversary of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (UN IGF) held in Oslo. Joining forces with the
Singapore Internet Governance Forum (SGIGF), BGA hosted an exclusive high-profile dinner titled "Bridging the Future: Blockchain, Governance, and Global Cooperation" inside the historic
Akershus Fortress in Oslo.
This prestigious dinner, which was held as an official side event supported by the UN IGF Secretariat, gathered world leaders from governments, multilateral organizations, and the blockchain and AI sectors to foster dialogue on inclusive, ethical, and interoperable digital infrastructure. The event was led by
Glenn Tan, Director of Global Affairs at BGA, and co-hosted by prominent SGIGF founders
Henry Wang and
Una Wang. Notable attendees included
His Excellency Dharambeer Gokhool, President of Mauritius;
Pamela Calletti, National Deputy of Argentina;
Senator Kenneth Pugh of Chile; and representatives from various UN organizations and national parliaments.
During the evening, discussions focused on the transformative impact of blockchain technology in shaping a trustworthy and cooperative global digital ecosystem. President Gokhool emphasized Mauritius's commitment to an ethical, inclusive, and rights-based digital governance model at this pivotal moment for the digital future. He stated, "Events like IGF 2025 remind us that trust, cooperation, and shared values must be the cornerstones of our collective evolution in the era of AI and emerging technologies. IGF 2025 wasn't just a conference - it was a collective awakening of conscience."
Moreover, Glenn Tan highlighted the urgency for forward-looking infrastructure, noting, "As blockchain transitions from hype cycles to solid internet infrastructure, we must ensure that the systems being built today serve the collective interest of tomorrow. This gathering symbolizes our shared commitment to a multistakeholder future rooted in trust and innovation."
Adding a regional perspective, Henry Wang pointed out, "As UN IGF celebrates 20 years of global internet governance, this dinner serves as a timely reminder that the next 20 years must be shaped through collaboration across sectors, systems, and sovereign states. If aligned with responsible governance and AI ethics, blockchain can become the connective tissue of a truly inclusive, decentralized, and intelligent internet."
The evening reaffirmed BGA's mission to promote cross-border cooperation and responsible digital transformation. These discussions are set to continue at the inaugural
Singapore IGF Conference on October 1, 2025, where regional stakeholders will take the lead in the global dialogue on inclusive and resilient internet governance.
