Patagonia and TRAILS: Immersing in Wilderness Through Long-Distance Hiking
In 2023, Patagonia and TRAILS are partnering once more to host an insightful speaker series across five Patagonia stores in Japan. The theme of this year's event is "Long-Distance Hiking: Into the Wilderness."
Long-distance hiking, an adventure that involves packing essentials into a backpack and trekking through untouched nature for weeks or even months, is set to be the focus of discussion. Participants will share their experiences and thoughts about embarking on such profound journeys into the wild.
This new series builds on last year’s successful initiative, where hikers were invited to dive deep into the world of long-distance trekking. The wilderness, characterized by its stunning beauty and sometimes harsh realities, becomes a backdrop for personal exploration. The question that will be explored is why hikers are drawn towards these untouched landscapes, away from the distractions of modern life.
The speaker series will feature a variety of hikers who will share their insights on long-distance hiking and their experiences in the wilderness. This is not just about hiking; it’s about rediscovering one's sense of adventure and connecting with nature in its purest form.
Patagonia's Commitment to Outdoor Activities
Patagonia has always categorized its products based on various outdoor activities, from surfing and climbing to trail running and skiing. In 2022, they introduced a new category focused on hiking, with Japan being the first country worldwide to launch the "Hike" category. The speaker series held in collaboration with TRAILS was the first major event under this new banner, reflecting Patagonia's commitment to fostering a deeper appreciation for the great outdoors.
TRAILS stands as Japan's first web magazine dedicated to trail culture, focusing on the excitement of hiking and outdoor adventures. Their mission aligns perfectly with Patagonia's ethos of adventure and respect for nature, making this collaboration a natural fit. This partnership invites outdoor enthusiasts to connect, share, and inspire one another through the lens of long-distance hiking.
