TBL Team Boxing League's Groundbreaking Tryouts at Bally's Atlantic City
The TBL Team Boxing League (TBL) is set to revolutionize the sport of boxing with its inaugural televised open boxing tryouts, taking place at Bally's Atlantic City from January 16th to 18th, 2026. This historic event is poised to provide an extensive platform for emerging boxing talent from the East Coast, creating opportunities for athletes to showcase their skills and earn spots in TBL's fourth season.
With an impressive roster of over 100 registered fighters, the three-day combine is designed to combine rigorous athletic testing with live entertainment and fan engagement, marking a significant milestone in the realm of competitive boxing. Notably, this will be the first open casting call in TBL's history, allowing competitors from diverse backgrounds to participate in a professional setting.
Event Details
The tryouts will take place in the spacious Traymore Ballroom, which spans over 13,000 square feet, and will include multiple evaluation stations that test:
- - Fitness, endurance, and strength
- - Punching power, speed, and accuracy
- - Footwork, hand/eye coordination, and sprint performance
- - Engagement with heavy bags, speed bags, jump ropes, and box jumps
- - Live sparring and pad work in two regulation boxing rings
The excitement of the combine will extend beyond the athletes themselves, as fans can attend for free and witness the evaluations up close. This initiative aims to demystify the process of becoming a fighter and shed light on how athletes are assessed collectively within a team dynamic.
Televised Exposure
All three days of the combine will be filmed for national broadcast, including a Spanish-language simulcast aimed at TBL's robust Latin fanbase. While broadcast partners are yet to be announced, the league is eager to highlight the extensive exposure that will accompany this event, making it a pivotal moment for both the athletes involved and the viewers at home.
In addition to traditional evaluations, there are plans for fan engagement through potential ‘fan favorite’ voting mechanisms, allowing spectators to have influence in the team-selection process. This innovative approach not only enhances the spectator experience but also draws a more personalized connection between fans and athletes.
