Workato Introduces Innovative Action Board
In a recent announcement, Workato Inc., a leading provider of orchestrated automation platforms based out of Palo Alto, California, revealed its plans to introduce the Action Board in Japan. This came during the World of Workato (WOW) 2025 conference. The Action Board, a feature of Workato GO, empowers employees to collaborate with AI agents known as Genies, allowing real-time tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs), management of outstanding action items, and a detailed overview of processes handled by AI.
The Purpose of the Action Board
The primary function of the Workato Action Board is to facilitate the seamless transition of AI agents into a controlled operational environment. While many organizations are beginning to leverage AI at the edge of their business, only a few possess the necessary tools to manage agents at the core operational level. The Action Board expands upon the capabilities of Workato GO, enabling various business units—such as IT, marketing, sales, customer service, finance, and human resources—to define KPIs for AI agents, delve into real-time results, and take meaningful actions.
Moreover, it provides a comprehensive visualization of processes that require employee interaction, such as approvals from AI agents. Bhaskar Roy, the Chief Product and Solutions Officer at Workato, stated, "With the Action Board, business units gain visibility and control to treat AI agents as actual employees rather than just trial tools. Unlike conventional dashboards, the Action Board displays real-time tracking of AI agents while allowing users to engage in a conversational manner, promoting actionable results."
Functional Features of the Action Board
Within the Action Board, each AI agent (Genie) is represented as a widget with defined roles and responsibilities, offering customized views based on department, use case, or individual role. Business departments can interact with AI agents much like they would with other departments, allowing them to monitor ongoing tasks and provide feedback. Significant governance features also ensure that only designated personnel can act based on necessary data elements.
This setup reflects the processes of successful AI agent adoption, structured through integrated teams of IT and business units from the outset. Leaders can now:
1. Define and track KPIs for each AI agent (Genie) to rapidly demonstrate effectiveness.
2. Collaborate with AI agents (Genies) to take actions that drive further outcomes.
3. Use customizable, role-based practical dashboards to maintain interdepartmental collaboration.
4. Monitor departmental results to boost operational efficiency.
5. Protect sensitive data with role-based access control.
